Yarn for Beginners in Knitting or Crochet?

What kind of yarn is suitable for beginners in knitting or crocheting, and what kind of yarn is definitely not suitable?

Plush yarn, fancy yarn, and very thin yarn are not suitable. Yarn for beginners should have a clear texture (such as cotton) and be light in color rather than too dark, so that you can see the knitted or crocheted stitches clearly. You’ll also need a crochet hook or knitting needle that matches the yarn’s thickness.

YES, especially when it comes to cotton, there’s school yarn. But smooth acrylic yarn is also well-suited; personally, I find cotton better for crocheting and acrylic yarn better for knitting.

I think cotton/acrylic blends (50/50) work best, but for a beginner, I’d recommend plied/twisted (not unplied) yarn cakes.
I think the color gradient helps you get a nice result quickly, and you can work your way from one little knot to the next in no time—even simple projects (whether knitted or crocheted) become real eye-catchers 😉
Personally, I find solid colors get boring pretty fast 😇
