We used to be shopping bags

Pictures one and two show the bags I turned into a quilt; the last picture is the finished quilt
. My stepdaughter saw it—it had just been finished—and said, “Oh, Mom, what a great thing you’ve got there!” I told her what I’d made, but she said, “So this is mine now, right?” I just said, “Okay, take it with you, but keep it with you and don’t give it to your son or daughter—it’s yours.” She has it in her car today :-)

The thread about sustainable shopping bags reminded me of my PW quilt again

That’s a great idea, Inge. You really have to think of it first.
I had no idea there were such nice bags.

Andrea, those were all bags I had sewn myself, some of them partly embroidered. They were lying in the drawer and just taking up space, so I made something else out of them—this blanket.

I think that’s a fantastic idea, too! But I wouldn’t have that many bags—especially so many with pretty patterns. You can only do that if you’ve sewn the bags yourself. You won’t find that kind of variety anywhere else.
