Crocheting a Magic Ring

Dear users, dear authors,
do you have any tips for crocheting the Magic Ring?

Does anyone else have anything to add?

I start all pieces that are meant to be crocheted in the round with a Magic Ring.

For example, all my granny squares are started this way. With the Magic Ring, you form a circle with the yarn so that you can stretch it to make it bigger or smaller as needed.

  You set up the magic ring and crochet the desired number of stitches into it. Sometimes I have up to 12 double crochets. The magic ring gives me enough space to easily crochet these double crochets because I make it large. When I’m done, I simply pull the loop closed, and I end up with no hole—or just a very small one. 

My tip: If you’re doing it for the first time, be patient and just keep practicing :) Eventually, it won’t be hard at all.
If necessary, look up different methods and see which one works best for you :)
The Magic Ring often just looks so much better than the alternatives, and it’s definitely worth learning how to do it. 

This is how I make the magic ring: I make a magic ring (Image 1), yarn over once and pull it through the ring (Image 2). Now you crochet, for example, single crochet stitches into this ring (Image 3)

If you now pull on the starting yarn, the ring can be pulled tightly closed so that no hole is left.
