Sewing Socks: What Are the Benefits?

Dear users, dear authors,
Are there any advantages to sewing socks instead of knitting or crocheting them?

That wouldn’t be an option for me, because I can well imagine that the seams would pinch or chafe.

To be honest, I’ve never really thought about that. It’s definitely faster, though.

I think sewing socks is great. The seams don’t bother me at all. It’s a great way to use up fabric scraps, even small ones. In the summer, knitted socks are too warm for me. The sewn ones made from lightweight jersey fabrics are perfect then. I’ve sewn lots of “cuddly socks” using the sewing pattern from firstlounge berlin. 

I haven’t sewn any socks myself yet, but my daughter once received a pair of hand-sewn socks from her godmother. They’re super cute and fit perfectly!

I see sewing socks mainly as a great way to use up fabric scraps, because you can make great use of even small scraps this way. :)
