Our 3 1/2-year-old grandson is staying with us for the weekend. That way, his mom—who’s nine months pregnant—can get a little more rest. After all, there are only a few days left until the baby is born.
We plan to ride bikes outside and do some fuse bead crafts indoors. Other than that, we’ll be giving each other ideas on how to pass the time.
Thanks, Josefa. Have a great weekend, you and all the rest of us, too. I’ve been working on my patterns since yesterday—I’ve been cutting fabric all day today. I’m cutting out clothes in different sizes for the kids, which is really fun, especially since I’m using my own patterns that I created myself. But I also use patterns from the internet—I couldn’t do without them :-)
I have to work this weekend, but I have Monday off, and then it’s back to the early shift.
I’ll be crocheting every free minute I have—if I don’t fall asleep from exhaustion after work.
Otherwise, enjoy the weekend, everyone, and do whatever you feel like doing
I already walked my 10 km today. Then I also removed the old blooms from the hydrangeas in the garden. Tomorrow I want to clean the patio. It needs to be oiled again this year, and my husband can’t do that anymore. So, a woman’s got to do it herself.
But the sun is shining!! And that helps chase away the gloomy thoughts a little, too.
@ Petra: I don’t really like unpacking suitcases again once I’m back home.
@ Ina: I’m a little jealous. 3.5 years is such a wonderful age. They soak everything up, and it’s especially lovely at Grandma’s.
@ Inge: I’m already curious to see what you’ll show us again.
@ Andrea: when I was still working, I sometimes knitted or crocheted until late into the night. But it relaxed me and wasn’t stressful. I hope it’s the same for you.
Petra, I’ve cut out 8 pieces, but now I’m taking a break—my thumb is aching from all the cutting with the scissors. They’re tops and pants in sizes 74–128, but different patterns. Now I have this gorgeous pink paisley fabric lying around, and I’m seriously considering whether I should make a children’s dress out of it. I don’t have a pattern on hand, but I can make one myself—that’s no problem for me; I learned how to do it a while back. We’ll see—if I don’t come across a nice pattern and my daughter doesn’t have anything suitable, I’ll get to work on it myself.
I also wish everyone here a wonderful and creative weekend! You all have such lovely plans.
Ina, you’re lucky to have your grandson so close by. Enjoy it—this time goes by so fast. And his little sister will be here soon. That’ll be a special experience, and I’m sure you’re already really looking forward to it. It’s great that you’re doing crafts together. That’s especially fun at that age.
Inge, you’re always so incredibly hard at work with your sewing and embroidery. I’m always amazed by the ideas you come up with and put into action right away.
Petra, I’m in awe! 10 km—I guess I’m a bit of a slacker. 5 km is the most I can manage. But by then I’m completely wiped out. It’s nice to work outside when the sun’s shining. It’s still too cold for me, but spring will be here in a week.
Andrea, it doesn’t matter when you have time off. Crocheting is always a lovely pastime that brings joy.
I’m going to keep knitting for my little quadruplets. I’m really enjoying it right now.
I’d also like to wish everyone a wonderful weekend!
The yarn I ordered arrived just in time today, and a friend gave me two more books, so I’ll be kept busy.
The weather’s supposed to stay nice, so I’m going to take care of the windows—it wasn’t worth the effort during all those weeks of rain, but now it’s finally time again.
And then I’ll sit down and make a plan for planting my balcony. It’s very small, so I have to have a plan before I go shopping—otherwise I’ll buy way too much.
My weekend has been on hold since this afternoon because I’ve come down with an ear infection—I can barely move my head because it all hurts so much, and I’m wearing a thick scarf as if I were living at the North Pole. The work isn’t going anywhere, and I don’t have to rush as if there were a deadline. First I need to get fit again, then we’ll see.
Stay healthy
Best regards, Inge
Thanks everyone, it wasn’t my ears after all, but a draft, because the pain was mainly behind my ear on the skull bone, from my temple down to my collarbone. I rubbed some rheumatism ointment on the area and wrapped a thick scarf around it, even overnight, and this morning it was completely gone :-)
I cleaned windows the other day; I suspect that’s where I picked up this little ailment.
