I just have to get this off my chest:
I live in Cologne, which isn’t exactly the driest place in Germany. After a rainy spring last year, we had a rather mixed summer (with the corresponding disasters elsewhere as well), but then fall turned out to be quite wet.
And now it’s winter, and it’s still raining—sometimes more, sometimes less, but almost every day. As you’d expect, with all this water, the puddles are getting more and more numerous and bigger—that’s obvious.
I was out shopping earlier and noticed that ducks have taken up residence in the supermarket parking lot. Since nobody wants to run them over, it’s really chaotic out there—it takes longer to navigate the parking lot than it does to shop inside the store. *lol*
Yeah, okay, it rains a lot where you are. Be glad there’s plenty of water coming down from above, because here in Lower Franconia it does rain too, but still not enough to make up for the past dry and hot years. The Franconian dry plateau is no joke either; compared to the rest of the country, it really doesn’t rain much here.
That’s true. Even during the dry summers before this, the Rhineland always got its share of rain, so the drought problems here were kept somewhat in check.
But when I think of the Ahr and Erft rivers… a healthy middle ground for everyone would be much more pleasant and sensible. Doesn’t anyone have a good connection with Saint Peter?
Having a direct line to Saint Peter won’t do much good—you have to remember that he’s a very old man by now, and old men eventually start to lose their touch, hihihihihi;-) ;-):-))))

I live in the beautiful Bergisches Land region in Engelskirchen.
Every day we check our hands to see if webbing has grown between our fingers yet.
If you want to go for a walk or hike in the woods, you’ll need rubber boots. Everything is totally soggy and muddy everywhere.
They’re also working in the woods with heavy equipment.
Did you all get through last night’s storm okay?
Best regards
Marion
You can feel the storm here in the lowlands of Baden-Württemberg, too. Since I pass by the forest on my way to work, my gaze always wanders upward. I made it through just fine.
