Patterns for Fluffy Yarn

I have some great yarn for size 8 hooks and am looking for a crochet pattern. I have a hard time counting.

I Googled it—it’s a fluffy yarn.

I picked up something similar yesterday; I think it feels so nice to the touch. I don’t have a concrete plan yet for what I want to make, just an idea—but I’d like to knit.

I’d really like to crochet a shawl with a lace pattern. It’s a beautiful yarn in rainbow colors.
I’m not a beginner, so it can be complicated.

I just picked up some yarn and crocheted some chain stitches with a size 7 hook. I can’t really make out the stitches for the second row. That means I can’t see where to insert the hook when I have to skip two stitches for the next single crochet. That’s probably why I’ve only knitted with this yarn so far. But even then, I realized that my pattern wasn’t visible, so I just ended up working in stockinette stitch.

Maybe some crochet pros are reading this who can help. 

Maybe granny squares? With those, you just have to insert the hook into the chain-stitch arches anyway—you can see them even with fluffy yarn.

Thanks for the suggestion. Maybe I’ll give it a try. I’m working on another project right now.
