Edge Stitches

Hi, experts!
How can I make my edge stitches more even? My edge stitches are always too big, and when I knit a border, there are these unsightly holes. Thanks so much for your help!

the easiest way is to knit the 2–3 stitches before the edge stitch a little tighter! And I always purl the edge stitches themselves. That creates a knotted edge and looks great.

Is this about knitting?
If so, you probably use a chain edge—that’s how I do it too. The edge stitches then span two rows, which is why they’re large; the edge looks like a chain of stitches. When knitting on a border (e.g. a button band), I knit one edge stitch through the front strand twisted, then work two stitches out of the next edge stitch: one through the back strand and one through the front strand. That turns two edge stitches into three stitches, so the button band is the right length.
