Dear users, dear authors,
from what I’ve gathered, you often have yarn at home that you don’t know what to do with.
This thread offers plenty of space to present your lonely yarn and gather ideas for using it.
Of course, you can also create your own separate thread.
Including your own photos of the yarn and the finished project is always a good idea.
Have fun!

Don’t have any leftover yarn?

Hi,
a friend of mine is looking for affordable 4-ply 50/50 yarn cakes for a blanket
—about 6,000 meters total. If anyone has any lying around that still haven’t found a use,
maybe someone has something suitable for her 🤔
She’s still open when it comes to color—she likes autumn tones, but also bold colors (ideally something that goes well with gray).

I have 4 skeins of this yarn.

Why did I buy it? Back in 2013, I just thought it was beautiful. But I have absolutely no idea what I could make with it.

Petra, that would be perfect for a stuffed animal, teddy bear, etc. But I can also easily imagine it as a hat or a scarf. It’s definitely nice and warm.
Best regards, Marita

Maybe a little teddy bear. I’ll have to see how to knit a teddy bear. I can’t even imagine crocheting one. I wonder if you can see the stitches?

Dear Petra,
I find this a difficult yarn to crochet with. I once worked with a similarly “furry” yarn. I could only knit with it because I could see the stitches on the needle. Crocheting it in one piece just wasn’t possible. And 4 skeins is really only a small amount. That wouldn’t be nearly enough for a pillow. Otherwise, I actually would have thought of a pillow—just the top side. With a large hook, it might be enough. The back of the pillow could then be a solid color and stuffed with synthetic craft batting. I’ve seen finished pillows like that in furniture stores before.

Best regards, Ina

Hi Petra,
or a fluffy border on a shawl or scarf/loop, similar to this one: Crochet a Reversible Shawl // Soft and Fluffy (crazypatterns.net)  Or, for example, something like this: “Patent” Hooded Loop—quick to knit and super soft (crazypatterns.net), then with a border around the face, like a fur trim, or, depending on the length, as wrist warmers 🤔

There are actually a few options. Thank you all.

I like the idea as an edging. Especially for a hat.

Ina, I also think you can only knit with this yarn.

Hi,
I have an 800m 4-ply cotton yarn —unfortunately, the color is a bit too bold in person.
I used the first ball to make a C2C baby blanket for a coworker,
and now I still have one ball left 🙄

I don’t like the color for clothing or accessories,
but I’d thought about maybe making towels or something similar 🤔
Do you guys have any other crochet ideas?

Shopping bags or a beach bag—the colors can definitely be a bit bolder for those.

Hi Ruth,
a beach bag—sounds like a great match for the colors, but I’ll have to
check if I have enough yarn 😘

I have a yarn cake like that too. It was supposed to become a dress for a 4-year-old, but I’ll probably make a shawl out of it instead.
Those are great spring colors 👍🏻

Hi Heike,
the colors are actually pretty—for a baby blanket or for a colorful girl,
but for me at 50, somehow not anymore 🤔🙄🤣😂🤣

Of course! Where does it say that women are supposed to start wearing only gray-on-gray or other muted colors?

Whaaaat?
Now more than ever!
50!
That’s when real life really starts again—the kids are grown, you know where you stand and what you’re capable of...
Get some yarn in pretty colors and get started.
Why not check out Petra Perle here? I think she’s delightful, and I’m friends with her on Facebook.
There are lots of colorful patterns from her here...
Have fun😉

@veronika
No, no, I’m not going gray-on-gray—but apricot, salmon, and quartz just aren’t my colors at all.
I love green, blue, and turquoise 😉

@Heike
Wow, Petra Perle—there are some great things there—some are a bit too colorful for my taste—but I’ll have to take a closer look at the shop when I get the chance. Amazing—so many ideas!

I wanted to show you that it’s okay to be a little—and I mean this in the nicest way—crazy.
Sure, she’s flamboyant, but how great is it that we get to meet people like that...
I also wear nothing but black, but I’m always happy to add a bright scarf or a colorful shawl.

@Heike,
it’s no problem at all—I didn’t take it personally 😘. I understood what you meant, and Perle’s items are really great too (just not my style—maybe in different colors!)
These items go great with black, too 😉
With my “shades,” I’m a lot more limited in terms of color again 🙄
Maybe I should switch to black clothes too 🤔
A friend of mine (who’s quite a bit younger) has always worn gray and black, which solves the outfit-matching problem all on its own—and “colorful” shawls are always welcome 😂😂

I can’t think of anything I’d like to do with this yarn.
The skein isn’t complete anymore.

Hi Marlene,
a pot scrubber (round or square, folded in half—hope you know what I mean) 😉

Yes, a flower can be used as a dish sponge or exfoliating sponge. Or as the final round (border) for a coaster.

Thanks for your ideas.
Now I just have to decide what to make from it.

I decided on a pot scrubber.
I’m working on the matching piece now:
