what are you starting the new year with?

Unfortunately, not with one of my UFOs. 🙈

I decided to use up some leftover yarn and am almost done with a baby hat and a new pattern. 

I’m once again digitizing embroidery patterns and spending whole afternoons at the computer.

Josefa, I’ve already written something about this. I’ll also show you a few more pictures of my first attempts at digitizing and where I am today; I think you can see a huge difference there.

I’m currently test-knitting a hat...

I’m still looking for the ultimate pattern for the baby jacket. I’ve found one that I basically like, but I’d like to replace the set-in sleeves with raglan sleeves. I’m also missing a few snowflakes, and a colleague asked for a little heart as a bag charm. Yesterday I also cast on the second dinosaur pot holder… But my biggest challenge right now is tidying up my craft and ironing room.

I’m knitting doll clothes for my grandchild—knitting sweaters, sewing pants.... 

I’m currently knitting a soul warmer. I’m already looking forward to it when it’s finished 

This is how I’m starting the new year: with a scarf made from a gradient yarn cake. I came up with the pattern myself.
Cast on 3 sts, then knit at least 3 rows in garter stitch, and then increase one stitch after every edge stitch until there are 60 sts plus 2 edge sts on the needle. Then always work 45 knit sts, 4 purl sts; it always ends with the stitch that was also knitted on the front. Then work 4 rows in garter stitch, and then start with the other stitch as with the front cube pattern, alternating like that until the scarf has the desired length. Then decrease again until 3 sts remain, bind them off and weave in the ends, and the scarf is finished.

I’m curious to see how your project turns out. I like the colors of the yarn cake. 

On Thursday and Friday, I knitted a loop each—for myself and my sweetheart—using some well-aged wool from 2013.

It’s nice and warm, and we’re both very happy with them.
