Since New Year’s Eve is once again suddenly just around the corner, as it is every year, I unfortunately have no idea.
We still don’t know what measures will be decided on, so I’m still being a bit cautious about making plans.
Either friends will come over (just two people) or we’ll spend a nice evening at home by ourselves.
Let’s see what else December has in store :)
Just like we’ve done for years—just the two of us, my husband and I, at home. Going out was never really an option for us. We’ll have a cozy evening, maybe watch some TV, and after midnight—or after our daughters call—we’ll head off to bed.
Best regards, Inge
I don't really like New Year's Eve because I don't like staying up past 11 p.m. For us, it'll be just like any other weekend. We'll cook something delicious, watch a good movie, and go to bed as usual. We've often slept through the fireworks. That's how it'll be this year, too.
Yeah, New Year’s Eve gets so lonely when you’re older—and then there’s COVID-19 on top of that. We’ll just be sitting together as a couple with non-alcoholic sparkling wine, waiting for midnight, then the kids will call, and then it’s off to bed.😓
If you’re feeling lonely on New Year’s Eve, you can go online here and exchange kind words with other users and authors. It’s “just” online, but our community is really starting to come together and support one another.
Yeah, I’ll definitely be hanging out here on CP in the early evening. Let’s see who’s around. But by the time the champagne corks pop and we toast at midnight, I’ll probably already be fast asleep.
We’ll be spending New Year’s Eve just the two of us again—somehow, we just don’t feel like it anymore. Back in the day, we couldn’t party big enough—anything under 30 people just wouldn’t do—but time flies, and age takes its toll… so many people are already missing.
Then we spent a few years in Alsace, celebrating with great food. That was really nice, but we just can’t handle such a huge meal anymore—and it’s not really worth it anyway. And unfortunately, New Year’s Eve falls during the season with bad weather, so you can’t even go for a long walk—you just sit around and eat—so that’s out.
We’ve often celebrated as a group of four, but it’s just so impractical because you can hardly get a taxi on New Year’s Eve.
We’ll just be celebrating as a couple, too—having a nice dinner, maybe a glass of sparkling wine afterward. In front of the TV or the laptop—nothing special, really. We probably won’t even stay up until midnight. Last year was the first time we didn’t make it. I hope the fireworks aren’t too loud because of the dogs.
We’d like to celebrate with my sister-in-law this year, since our kids are the same age. Unfortunately, we were in lockdown last year, so we’re hoping we can celebrate together this year 🤗
We’re invited to a friend of my husband’s. But it’s all too complicated for me with Anton staying over and all that. That’s why I’ll definitely be staying home with Anton. But since my husband would like to do something on New Year’s Eve, I’m trying to convince him to go by himself. I don’t mind. I don’t like New Year’s Eve anyway.
He’s still unsure because he doesn’t want to leave me alone. Well, we’ll see what happens.
We’ll have a cozy dinner for two and then play games—no TV. We have plenty of CDs to listen to. I think it’s great that fireworks aren’t allowed to be sold this year. It’s great for the environment and for the animals.
