Pattern

I have a pattern, but I don't quite understand this part: "
Work the 4th round in single crochet, alternating 1 single crochet, 2 chain stitches, and 1 single crochet, working every 2nd stitch."
Especially this part: "every 2nd stitch"???

This is how I understand it: crochet 1 sc, skip the 2nd sc, chain 2, and then work into the 3rd sc again

This is how I understand it: You crochet 1 sc, chain 2, then make 1 sc in the following stitch, skipping 1 stitch each time. So you always skip 1 stitch, then chain 2, skip 1, 1 sc, and so on.
Is that right?

I’d say it means you always work 1 sc into a stitch from the previous round, then chain 2, skip 1 stitch from the previous round, work 1 sc into the following stitch, then chain 2 again, skip 1 stitch from the previous round (leave it out), and work 1 sc into the following stitch from the previous round....
