Wearing / Sewing Quilted Jackets

Do you like quilted jackets?
What should you keep in mind if you want to sew quilted jackets yourself?

Since quilted jackets often don’t need a lining, the raw edges should either be finished with an overlock stitch or covered with seam tape. Otherwise, after a while, it’ll look like mice have been gnawing at the seams. Quilted jackets are usually super lightweight and easy to clean; they generally hold up pretty well in the washing machine.
What I personally don’t like are quilted jackets made of polyester—unfortunately, they’re not breathable at all because the polyester fiber just doesn’t allow for it. I prefer quilted jackets made of cotton, like the one I sewed for myself last year—though I did line that one because otherwise it wouldn’t have been warm enough for winter.

I don’t think I’ve ever owned a quilted jacket. I like them, but mostly on other people.
