Image 1: Cut the outer fabric and lining fabric to the appropriate size, then sew inner pockets onto the lining.
Choose a zipper of the appropriate length and, if desired, some lace or trim for decoration.
Image 2: Place the trim and zipper on the outer fabric and pin them in place, then sew them down.
Image 3: Place the lining fabric on the zipper, pin it in place first, and then sew it down. Do the same with both parts of the pouch.
Then open out the lining fabric and outer fabric so that each lies opposite the other, and topstitch all around, leaving a small opening at the bottom of the lining for turning. I always start sewing at the lining, leaving about 4–5 cm to the edge, then I sew down the sides of the lining, over the zipper, onto the outer fabric and back up the other side. On the narrow side of the lining, I only sew far enough to leave a comfortable turning opening.
Trim the corners and any excess seam allowance too; otherwise you’ll get a lot of bulky mess inside the pouch at the seams, and that doesn’t look nice. Check that everything has been caught properly, then close the turning opening and fill the little pouch with whatever you like. Images 5 and 6
Have fun making it
