Fringed shawl

I knitted this shawl from leftover yarn for my godmother’s 85th birthday; I hope she likes it as much as I do.

Thanks, Marion. I’ve been knitting on it every afternoon and evening for the past few days. We hardly ever have the TV on, since there’s nothing on that could lure us in front of the screen—least of all soccer. But now I really need to take a break, because my right hand is acting up a bit and hurting. I wanted to finish this, though, because there’s already fabric waiting for me again :-)

when necessary, you’re willing to part with your beloved sewing machine for a little while. But when you have a goal in mind, it’s easier to do. In this case, I’m so happy for the 85-year-old lady that she’s getting such a beautiful, warm shawl from you. Older folks get cold quickly and always need something warm over their shoulders right away. This shawl is perfect for that. The colors are also very pretty. A lot of hard work and love went into it—so it’s something truly special.

Now I hope you get some rest for your hard-working hands, and then enjoy sewing again.

Today my godmother called—the one for whom I knitted this shawl for her 85th birthday. She was practically over the moon with joy about the shawl and said it goes perfectly with all her dirndls and coats; it’s beautiful. She was so happy with it, which in turn made me happy, because now I know it arrived safely.
