Yarn—yarn—yarn—my stash

Today I treated myself to the pleasure of going through all my wool stash, sorting it, and—most importantly—taking pictures of it. It was a real shock (laughs)—because will I ever be able to knit all of this? I have no idea. My annual “wool diet” naturally had consequences. As is always the case with diets… then comes the yo-yo effect. I’ve stocked up quite a bit over the last few weeks and also went on a bit of a shopping spree on my swap group. Yeah, yeah… I admit that wool addiction is one of the best kinds of addictions. :-) It feels sooo good.

Maybe you feel the same way, and you’d like to show off your stash, too. Here’s your chance. I’m looking forward to seeing your photos.

Here are my pictures. There’s quite a bit to see. The yarn at the very bottom is being used to crochet nests for injured wild animals. I hope you enjoy looking at them!

Various single skeins and scraps:

Various thinner cotton yarns

More in white and other colors

More beautiful, colorful cotton

This was on top of the box

And here’s the next box

And here’s more cotton—lots of bright colors

And here’s more

Here it is again—yes, the selection is huge

Here’s the Finkhof wool I’m currently knitting with (there’s more of it—it’s on my needles right now)

And here’s some very soft baby wool (from my swap group)

This yarn will also be put to use (yeah, right...)

I’m nowhere near done

And here’s some more yarn from my stash

That’s not nearly all of it. To keep this from getting too long, I’ll continue right away… So if you’d like, there’s more to see below.

Are you planning to open a shop, Monika? ;-):-)))
That’s a crazy amount

Best wishes, Inge

So, here we continue. All of this still needs to be worked up.

Here’s some more yarn that will become something for the grandkids.

This one will be on the needles soon, too:

And this one is already waiting for the next double-face project

This yarn’s turn is coming soon, too.

Here are my stash drawers - part 1

And here’s part 2 (unfortunately it came out a bit blurry)

Cotton yarn that doesn’t have a purpose yet (but soon, I assume... maybe)

Now we’re slowly getting to the end - here’s some more colorful cotton yarn that I bought after my yarn diet.

Finally, here are the leftovers that will become nests for wildlife rehabilitators.

And now I’m excited to see your stashes. This is going to be a really colorful thread. Come on—be brave and show us!

As you can see, Inge, that was only half of it! Hopefully I’ve got everything in here now. Oh yeah, there are still a few scraps left in my yarn basket. I didn’t take any more pictures of those this time. :-)

Your pictures are making me feel better.🤭 I’m not alone in the world with this passion.

I wonder if we’ll ever be able to use up all our stash? And will I even be able to find all of it in my house? 🤔

You’ve picked out some beautiful colors.

Thanks, Petra, :-) I think I have almost all the colors here now and could join in with any color challenge.

Just the feeling alone is really good, knowing that my supplies won’t run out. It was only during my inventory that I saw all the places where I had stored the yarn. Oh dear, that was a revelation.

I’m now passing some of it on through the swap group, at least the yarn I definitely won’t use up anymore. Altogether it would be the amount shown in 2 photos (the ones with less in them). Still ... there’s plenty left.

There are still about 15 full moving boxes here... (and the yarn shop in the basement too)... but they’re getting fewer...
I’ve already managed to get through about 4–5 boxes in the last 2 years... YARN DOESN’T GO BAD

Have a lovely Sunday!

Oh, that looks so beautiful, Monika!!! So much great yarn—it makes my heart sing :-)

This is what my main storage cabinet looks like:

When I look at the picture, I have to admit: there’s still plenty of room *ponders*

And here’s my separate cotton stash for the therapy blanket, which still needs a lot of yarn:

well, I can't and don't even want to compete with that; that's an incredible stash of yarn. I don't even have that much fabric lying around, and most of it is just scraps anyway. ;-)
the big gray cuddly one, I had 2 of those, 700 grams each; one has already been used, for the cardigan with the shawl collar.
what's in the drawer is all the yarn I currently have, and that's more than plenty for me; it all wants to be used up someday. For the fluffy, or fuzzy yarn, I have something in mind now, but first I have to see whether and how that can/should work out

Best, Inge

Wow, that’s really adding up. Petra, you’re right—it won’t go bad. How convenient! I have to say, your stash is quite impressive, too.

Inge, at least you have something to show. Better than nothing. ;-)

Sonja, your closet is an absolute dream! That’s still on my wish list, too… but I just don’t have the space for it—unfortunately. You can’t hide anything in there, and you always have a clear overview. Your stash is definitely impressive, too, and it surely makes you feel good, right? Your main stash cabinet?? There’s probably quite a bit more scattered around, isn’t there?

When I closed my yarn shop… I deliberately didn’t have a clearance sale so as not to hurt my fellow shop owners… I always noticed when yarn shops closed down and had a clearance sale… Then I just couldn’t function anymore… I didn’t want to put others through that, so I packed everything up and took it with me… Sometimes it all gets a little overwhelming… But then everything’s fine again. Warm regards

I packed my yarn in a large bag. Cat-proof. I don’t have as much as you do.

The fabric scraps are packed in an older suitcase.

Best regards, Gabi

I’m not alone..... 😂😂😂
and you’ve “adopted” such beautiful colors.
I’m currently sorting through and “decluttering.” Some of it should be on its way out already; a bag is already set aside for a friend.
Otherwise, this is what it looks like (at least) in my closet:
This is what I’ve already stowed away in the closet....
As for what’s still in the boxes under the bed, in the wardrobe, etc.... I’m not really sure right now—just yesterday I opened a box and discovered some really beautiful winter yarn, definitely for 5 mm needles, a virgin wool-merino-acrylic blend.... Based on the amount, it could make a sweater, in color-coordinated stripes 🤔 or Fair Isle?????

Welcome to the club. 😄😄😄

I’m so glad there are even more “yarn addicts” here.

I have no trouble keeping up.

Oh Steffi, that looks really great and beautifully colorful over at your place. I’m so glad I finally worked up the courage to show off my treasures. Wonderful—I’m not alone! As I can see, I’m in the best of company… yay! :) I can’t wait to see your other treasures, Steffi. Go for it—you’re welcome to share here.

Marion, why don’t you show us what there is to discover at your place? ;-)

Gabi, you got away with just one big bag?? Impressive!

Perle, can we really ever have too much yarn? We love getting lost in it, don’t we? By the way, I would’ve done the same—taken everything with me—if I’d been closing down a store.

Hi, it looks pretty much the same here ;). I get the impression that the yarn is multiplying on its own. I’ve already made a few large, colorful scrap blankets, but the pile isn’t getting any smaller. But I’ll keep at it. Best regards from Anja

Hi, Anja. :)
Yeah, I feel the same way—now we’ve figured it out. The yarn just multiplies on its own. :) It’s a nice thought, somehow. I’ve already thought about making colorful scrap blankets, too... And yeah, I’ll keep at it and hope I don’t run into another woolly thing that absolutely has to come home with me. ;-)

I have quite a lot of yarn myself, but when I see what you all have—I can’t compete. I mostly have leftover skeins of less than 100 g because I mainly crochet small items. I also only buy yarn for projects I’m about to start. However, I usually buy about one skein more than called for (as a reserve), and that usually ends up being left over.
My granddaughter was over today; she’s really into making friendship bracelets right now. So I let her pick out whatever she liked from my leftover skeins. Man, was she happy!
But my stash is still huge...

Ruth, you always make such beautiful things with those little leftovers. I can totally understand why the amount stays manageable. I can easily imagine that your granddaughter was thrilled. I’m also already thinking about a few smaller projects that can be made with leftovers. I just gave away two drawers full because there’s no way I’ll ever use up this yarn. But I’m sure I’ll find a use for everything else.
