I sewed a rain cover for my walker because it’s parked in the yard—under a roof, yes, but if the wind blows the right way, it still gets wet,

What kind of fabric did you use?

I used coated fabric—the kind used for rain jackets or capes—Josefa, and I sewed lead tape into the bottom hem, so the rain cover stays nicely in place even when it gets a bit breezy.

Yes, lead tape—it used to be sewn into curtains, and still is today, so they hang nicely and really show off their drape. Here I used a heavier kind; there are also ones that aren’t quite as heavy and have smaller, finer beads.

That makes sense.

That was a great idea, dear Inge. You could even take the “garage” with you when you’re out and about.
I still have a curtain with lead tape from my grandma that I use. Back in the day, people used to drape old curtains over currant bushes. We always had to be careful to pull our heads out of the way in time.
