Stuffing and Washing Animals // Also Floppy Animals / Animals with Movable Joints

Dear users, dear authors,
What do you use to stuff animals / amigurumi / floppy animals, and how can these be washed?
How can you make joints movable?

I always make sure to get stuffing that can be washed at at least 30°. For teddy bears, I buy these joint sets for the neck so the head can turn, and for the arms and legs so they’re movable. I also make sure the plush fabric meets the relevant standards and is flame-retardant, because I sew a lot for the local Kindertafel and I don’t want to get into any trouble. I’d only put a plush toy like that in the washing machine in a mesh bag on the gentle cycle—never spin-dry it—but instead gently squeeze out the water afterward and let it air dry.
