Pure yarn bliss after 1.5 years of restraint

Dear friends,
yarn is our life, after all, and who among us could possibly do without it? After nearly 1.5 years of yarn restraint and making space, I’ve now really gone all out for the second time—with my favorite Drops yarn. I ordered it online two days ago in the evening—and the package already arrived today.

Here’s a little something to share in the joy. There are a whopping 84 skeins, each weighing 50 g. And they’re so beautifully colorful. I’ll be able to create lots of colorful and beautiful things again. Just as a painter needs colors, colorful yarn is that for me.

This is what the package looked like after I opened it:

And then I unpacked it—what a joy! Some of them were on sale, and I just couldn’t resist, so I stocked up on lots of colors.

Oh wow, Monika—seeing so much gorgeous yarn really makes your heart flutter with joy; such beautiful colors. I’m planning a few tapestry projects right now and sorting through my stash, but I’ll have to buy a few more colors. Maybe I’ll be able to share a “wool frenzy” photo soon, too. But I’m already excited to see what pretty things you’ll create. In any case, I’m happy for you. Do you also find that you can hardly wait for the order to arrive?

It’s such a joy when the package arrives. I can just imagine. What a variety of colors! You can knit or crochet wonderful things with them.

Is it just one type of yarn, or several? I’ll have to stop by Drops and look for your little treasures. You can see a bit of the names on the label.

Great colors—I’d love those too! (And not just red and orange 😉)

Thank you for sharing in my joy, my dears—it really does multiply the joy.

Yes, Ines, I actually could hardly wait for the package from Algawo to arrive, but I wasn’t expecting it today. It’s an incredibly wonderful feeling. I’m sure you can understand… :-)

I ordered a wide variety of colors right away and will also knit with them for others who aren’t just into red, yellow, and orange. There are so many ways to mix and match. When I was ordering, I was really in a color frenzy and couldn’t make up my mind.

Petra, there are several varieties. The Drops You7 (170 m/50 g) was on sale. And since I’m running out of colors now, I picked up quite a few. The yarn is nice and thin. I’ve already knitted a lot with it for the kids. It washes great and keeps its shape. The same goes for the Drops Safran (160 m/50 g). The two combine really well.

Then there’s Drops Safran (100 m/50 g)—I really love its sheen. And finally, the recycled cotton Drops You9 (125 m/50 g).

Drops Fabel (210 m/50 g) knits up just like sock yarn, and I ordered it for double-face projects. And for Drops Lima (Merino), I only needed two more skeins to go with my leftover yarn to make something out of it.

Here are the photos—you can see the different types there. If you click on them, the image will enlarge.

Oh, what a sight. We’re all melting away. It’s great that you laid everything out for us—that way we can all enjoy it too. What a lovely purchase. It almost makes you want to curl up in it. Thanks for letting us know which types and yardages they are.

After 1.5 years on a yarn diet, you’ve definitely earned this shopping spree. I can’t wait to see what you’ll make with these magnificent treasures.

Dear Ina, thank you for sharing in my joy. :)
I also thoroughly enjoyed the sight after unpacking it and practically bathed in it. Since you’re part of this craft group here, you’ll definitely be able to see what treasures come from it. I’m curious myself.

Oh Monika, I totally understand your excitement! So much beautiful yarn! Now, of course, we’re all curious to see what treasures you’ll create with it. Thanks for telling us about the different types. From Drops, I actually only know the Safran and Muskat, and I have to order those online. I just finished knitting up some leftover Safran—I’ll show you the result tomorrow.

Thanks, Monika, for the pictures. The Drops You colors are really great. I’ve been to yarn stores a few times, but I didn’t end up liking the pastel colors that much. I’m not really an online shopper—I don’t like it at all. But I’ll take a look now anyway. If you’re happy with the yarn, maybe I’ll give it a try. You can make so many pretty things with cotton.

I’m curious to see which yarn or color you’ll start with. Your little dress is almost finished.

Christina, you’ll see what I make of it. We’re staying connected here in the crafting thread.

Petra, unfortunately, we don’t have a craft store nearby. So I have to rely on the internet. But I actually like it quite a bit. The color selection at Drops is huge. Algawo.de carries all the varieties, and you can also see which colors are in stock there. That’s my favorite shop because the shipping is fast, too.

The little dress is knitted with Drops Safran. Now it’s finished except for one appliqué, and the colors are beautifully vibrant. Here’s the new photo:
