Whenever we get a sudden craving for cake, I always turn to this recipe. It’s ready in no time and doesn’t take too long to make. The dough doesn’t need any sweetener. And depending on the fruit you choose, you can even skip the sugar in the topping. Just try out different variations.
Great pizza crust:
This dough is perfect for pizza! It turns out crispy and nice and thin. I love this version, and it’s just as quick to make as the cake.
Yeast dough:
- 250 g whole-grain spelt flour (regular spelt flour works too)
- 30 ml oil (e.g., olive oil)
- 1/2 cube of fresh yeast or 1 packet of dry yeast
- 1 pinch of salt (for pizza, use 1/2 tsp)
- 125 g water
Mix all the ingredients for the yeast dough, knead, and let rise while preparing the topping.
Topping for the cake:
-
Chop 3–4 apples into small pieces; you can also mix in other fruits, nuts, etc., as well as raisins to taste
- Mix this mixture with lemon juice
-
stir in a little honey or sugar as needed
- Cinnamon—if desired
- Sprinkle shredded coconut, slivered almonds, or ground nuts on top, if desired
Pizza topping:
- Tomato paste (first)
- Vegetables of your choice—e.g., onions, spinach, mushrooms, tomatoes
-
Cheese for sprinkling
Now roll out the dough thinly on a baking sheet and spread the toppings on top.
Place it in a cold oven and bake for 25–30 minutes at 180 degrees on the convection setting.
Enjoy, and feel free to post a photo here.
