Little-known craft techniques: Which ones should be better known?

Which craft technique do you think should be better known?

Hairpin lace crochet is far too little known. Yet it’s very easy and a lot of fun. Using a hairpin lace loom, you create long strips of loops, which are then crocheted together. Combining hairpin lace crochet with knitting is also a great option. This creates unique lace patterns that can’t be made any other way. Cable patterns are also possible. It’s a shame that so few people are familiar with this unique craft technique. Here are two beautiful examples:

As a huge fan of double-faced knitting, I naturally think this knitting technique should become much more well-known :-) Once you understand the basic principle and get the hang of the tension, the technique is actually quite simple. It’s really just knit and purl stitches. The possibilities for knitting amazing designs and patterns are incredibly diverse. 

I love quilling. It involves rolling thin strips of paper into a spiral, securing them with glue, and pressing them into shape. These are then glued together. You can make anything with it—butterflies, flowers, Christmas trees. Depending on the size, they can be used as window decorations, Christmas tree ornaments, or gift tags. Unfortunately, I don’t have a picture right now. Just Google it.

You don’t see much written about bobbin lace either.

In the Ore Mountains, you can see it at various events.

Artistic knitting is also not very well represented.

Gold embroidery...very time-consuming...only a few traditional costume associations still offer it...
