Schoppen Lace Ball

Hi,
has anyone here ever knitted with this yarn before?

I’m planning to reknit my shawl pattern using this fine yarn.

Do you have any important tips for me?

I can hardly believe the needle size is 4-5, but that’s what it says.

I’ve knitted the “Tinuviel” shawl with it, though I used size 3.5 needles because I thought the stitch definition looked nicer that way. From a knitting perspective, I think the Laceball is great, but I generally enjoy knitting with lace yarn.

Is a “lace ball” the same as a regular skein of lace yarn?

I’m not quite sure what you mean.

The manufacturer calls it “Lace Ball.”
It’s a skein of very fine yarn.

The Laceball has a yardage of 800 meters, just like other standard lace yarns. That will give you a nice, large shawl. My pattern for the “Tinuviel” shawl is designed specifically for this yardage.

I feel the same way as Michaela. I also usually knit with slightly thinner needles than those recommended for lace, because I don’t really like the typical loose, open lace look, and I always have the impression that it turns out uneven.

The shawl will definitely be a real eye-catcher.
