What kind of yarn should I use for soap pouches?

First of all, Happy New Year! 😊

Today I saw something in a documentary about the GDR about soap pouches, where you put leftover soap scraps inside and then wash yourself with them.
I’d love to crochet one for myself and my elderly aunts.
I’ve been googling suitable yarns for an hour now; it should dry quickly, be hard-wearing, and not shed. But somehow I can’t find the right one.
I hope you can give me some helpful tips.

I crocheted soap pouches for my daughter out of 100% cotton. If that’s the same thing as soap bags, she’s happy with them.

I used Catania yarn.

Hi Ida, this sponge yarn works well, too—it even has a slight exfoliating effect and can be washed at up to 60°C.

Hi,
I used Rico Bubble for this. It gives you a nice exfoliating effect at the same time, and the soap lathers up beautifully. I remember those soap pouches myself—they used to be made of plastic, too.
