Our 2020 Advent wreaths

Hello everyone,

I just finished making my Advent wreath and thought it would be nice if we could share our creative ideas for them. So if anyone feels like showing off theirs and writing a few words about it, we’d all love to see it. It might even give those who are still undecided a few ideas.

I’ll go first with mine: I was kind of in the mood for something all-natural, understated, and serene—or maybe lots of bling. So I cut two types of evergreen branches from the garden and arranged them in my Velou floral arrangement system. You pour water into the bottom, so it stays fresh until Christmas. I also added a few faded hydrangea blooms, small pinecones, and just a touch of decoration. Then I sprayed everything with a fine gold glitter spray, though it’s only subtly visible.

Since I didn’t buy any candles, I opted for 6-hour tea lights in small glasses this time. I wrapped shrink wrap (Lablanche) around the glasses and shrunk it. When the lights are on, you can see the pattern really nicely. I’ll post a picture of the lit-up glass after the first Sunday of Advent :-)

Now I’m excited to see your Advent wreaths!

Warm regards and have a wonderful Sunday, Ina

This is my Advent wreath. I’m using artificial, fire-resistant twigs and LED candles, because open flames are literally a fire hazard in our apartment—it’s a very old building. Since I tend to fall every now and then, this is safer; it’s not the first time I’ve fallen like that in my apartment.

This is my Christmas decor. While I was decorating, I started to feel a little Christmas spirit, especially since it’s so early this year.

When it comes to the Advent wreath, I don’t like to experiment. Ours has been red and green for generations.

This Advent wreath has been making its way onto our table year after year. I find it very practical that it uses tea lights instead of candles.

I don’t actually have an Advent wreath—just an Advent arrangement—but I didn’t want to keep it from you. I also have LED candles because we sometimes doze off in front of the TV, and open “fire” isn’t really my thing :) Instead, I have a few scented candles in glass jars. And LED candles do look just like real ones and flicker, too. I think all of your wreaths are very beautiful.

I wish you all a lovely, peaceful First Sunday of Advent

Beautiful wreaths. Unfortunately, that doesn’t work in our home. My cats are too wild—nothing stays in place.
They even jump into the cabinets. I can’t even put my incense figurines there.

Only a few are kept behind glass.

Have a wonderful First Sunday of Advent

@ Gabi
It might be a little mean, but our cat always got a squirt from the flower sprayer whenever she got close to the Advent wreath or Christmas tree. She caught on pretty quickly. 😆

Oh, so many beautiful Advent wreaths. Each one is completely unique and reflects the owner’s personal taste. One person likes it colorful and bright, another prefers a traditional look, and yet another prefers something more elegant and refined. But the Christmas decorations you’ve shown are also gorgeous. They’re all little works of art to enjoy—the kind you only see during the Christmas season. Thank you so much for sharing. It felt just a tiny bit like strolling through a Christmas market.

I actually wanted to show my Advent wreath with the first candle lit, but I somehow missed taking a picture of it today. Oh well, I still have the whole week to do it.

Enjoy the rest of this lovely evening of the First Sunday of Advent.
Best wishes, Ina
