Stole by Lana Grossa, shadow knitting

Hi, I’d like to get back into knitting, and this beautiful stole from Woolplace caught my eye.

Lana Grossa is known for its yarns, which aren’t exactly cheap, so here’s my question: Do I really need to use up all those skeins, or will there be so much left over that it’s worth switching to a different, cheaper yarn with a shorter yardage? (I’d only have to pay around 40€ instead of 63€—with some compromises on the quality of the yarn, of course, but I’m willing to accept that.)

I’d try using a different yarn but with the same yardage.

Hi, it’s best to contact the author directly. She can give you the information about the yarn. There’s a “Contact” button in the shop. 

Unfortunately, there aren’t any other yarns with an unbelievable yardage of 320m (except for silk, which is even more expensive)

I knit a lot from patterns and rarely use the original yarn.
A yardage of 320 isn’t actually that rare. I knitted lace shawls for quite a while, and for those you need yarns with a high yardage....
If you check online, you can see what gauge the original yarn has—that usually helps....
