Coatigans are on trend. They are a mix of coat (=coat) and cardigan (=vest/jacket). Would that be something for you?

I sewed something like this for myself back in the spring—you could call it a short coat or a long jacket :-)
The jacket reaches down to my knees in the back

You know how it goes: In fashion, nothing ever goes out of style completely, and people are always coming up with new names for things that everyone already knows. That way, people can buy something new or make something themselves. :-)

Here’s how it looks, Josefa—the fabric for this jacket was a gift from my youngest daughter last Christmas; she knows what Mom likes :-)
