Christmas Baking

Dear users, dear authors,
when do you start your Christmas baking?

In my family, we traditionally have the first cookies on my birthday. Since that’s in early December, I start baking at the end of November. I used to be able to finish everything in 2–3 days, but now it doesn’t go as quickly anymore, and it’s becoming increasingly stressful for me. That’s why I set aside about a week for it. Then I make one kind each day, with the occasional day off in between. Unfortunately, everyone in my family has a different favorite kind that absolutely has to be baked ;-) , so that makes at least five kinds.

I think I’ll start as early as October this year. I love Christmas cookies and especially enjoy eating them this early in the season.

I start in mid-November, because at our house the cookies are on the table from the first Sunday of Advent onward. 

From mid-November, there are also the cakes for the cold season. They all have a bit of a Christmas touch (cinnamon, nuts, rum, marzipan, etc.). These are then baked for the last time no later than February. 

I’ll be baking just a few cookies for myself and my sweetheart.

Unfortunately, my grandchildren aren’t allowed to eat them because they have to eat gluten-free.
