I think this is really innovative
I especially like the saucer, because you can put things on it so nicely
and it even has "coffee" in it; for me it would have to be tea, but I think when crocheting you can also adjust the color so it looks like green tea.

I'd make the pattern much larger than the dimensions described
Dimensions of the finished cup when using the yarn mentioned above:
Cup diameter (without handle): 4.5 cm 
Saucer diameter: approx. 7.5 cm 
Height: approx. 4.5 cm

I'm wondering now
could you actually make the inside hollow too
and crochet it a bit sturdier
so that it becomes a little basket with a lid?

The cup is really great. I think the size is perfect for a pincushion. But I’d also make it a little bigger. I’m not sure about the sturdiness either. I think you’d have to crochet it very tightly, and I’m not entirely sure about that yet. I’d like to give it a try sometime soon—we do have a thread here about the sturdiness of things like this.

Well, I’m not sleeping particularly well right now, and staring at the ceiling when I can’t sleep isn’t much fun
but this forum is open 24/7, which I find really handy when I can hang out here while I can’t sleep :)
