I live near the Schachenmayr factory outlet. I get most of my yarn there, and I’m lucky that there are five yarn shops within a 15-km radius. I have to feel the yarn before I decide
My favorite yarn shop right now is Hobbii. They have affordable and beautiful cotton in lots of colors, as well as yarn bundles in coordinating colors. Locally, I shop at Wolle Rödel or the TVU factory outlet in Leutershausen—they supply the cones for many bobble yarn manufacturers.
Okay, thanks—I’ll check out Hobii and Wolle aktuell.
Thanks, everyone.
While on vacation in GAP, I bought some at “Die Wolle,” and in Mittenwald I also found a great little shop. I’d love to always buy it in person, but as I said, there aren’t any stores left.
for larger projects, I’ve been buying Megballs from hobbii.de so far, since their prices are unbeatable. I’ve bought gradient yarns at Galeria Kaufhof because I prefer to see and feel them in person. Whenever I’m in Poland, I stop by my usual craft stall there. The yarn isn’t significantly cheaper there, but they do have a different selection. And. eBay or Amazon also have some pretty good deals from time to time. It really always depends on what you’re looking for.
I’ve just discovered a new craft store near me and am trying to shop there instead of ordering online. I always love being able to touch the yarn I’m buying and see the actual color in person. With online shops, I’ve often found that the color looks different than it does in the pictures.
Too bad the yarn shop near you closed. But I hope you find a good online shop :)
