Zpagetti Bags

First of all, a big HELLO to everyone!

I have a question about the Zpagetti bags: I’ve
already crocheted a few, but I think they’re
way too heavy, even when they’re
empty. What am I doing wrong? Maybe I’m
crocheting too tightly?
I’d appreciate any advice!!!!

Zpagetti is heavy because it’s made of cotton; an alternative would be a different yarn (acrylic, viscose). Then the bag would be lighter.

Well, I won't make bags like that anymore, even though
they look great. I'll try a different yarn; you're right!

Can you actually waterproof bags made of cotton or viscose with regular waterproofing spray, or would that not be a good idea?

I haven’t tried it yet, but I think it would be better with
fabric stiffener. You’d have to give it a try sometime.

Can you really make things waterproof with fabric starch? I always thought it was just meant to be poured into the washing machine at the very end of the wash cycle so that shirts—and blouses and things like that—don’t wrinkle as quickly.

I was actually thinking about the firmness of the yarn.
Zpagetti bags look great, but they’re too
heavy for me. And with yarn, I think they’re too floppy.
Well, let’s see what else I can come up with!!

It always depends on the pattern. I also make bags out of polyester and wool, and they’re very stiff and look like they’re woven. With an openwork pattern, a bag like that will naturally be floppy.
