The rainbow unicorn makes a beautiful decoration

If you hang it near a window or door, the unicorn spins around in a soothing way.

To make the unicorn, you’ll need the following:
A total of 30 g for the body segments in rainbow colors, 35 g for the head, stuffing, half-beads/googly eyes, 8 mm in size, 1 pipe cleaner, 15 g for the horn, 20 g for the mane
7 beads with a diameter of 8–10 mm and a hole
2.5 mm crochet hook
Darning needle for sewing together
Scissors
Stitch markers, as it is crocheted in spiral rounds
1 strand approx. 80 cm long for threading the body segments/head; this also serves as a hanger for the witch
Decorative items as desired

Unicorns are and will always be trendy!

And when they’re as cuddly and versatile as Violetta the unicorn, they become an absolute favorite! At least that’s how it is with my granddaughter.
Violetta is a particularly practical hobbyhorse unicorn because she’s suitable for both indoors and outdoors. Since the “stick” is a cut-off soft pool noodle, it helps avoid injuries or broken objects—even during wild play. Plus, Violetta is so cuddly and soft that she’s even allowed to come to bed at night when my granddaughter just can’t bear to part with her.
I used the following materials for Violetta:.
  • 100 g fluffy yarn in white (Phil douce by Phildar, yardage 86 m / 50 g)
  • 50 g cotton yarn (filet yarn), size 10, in white, as a carry-along yarn
  • 150 g cotton yarn in purple (yardage approx. 125 m/ 50 g, e.g. Catania by Schachenmayr)
  • 50 g cotton yarn in light gray (yardage approx. 125 m/ 50 g, e.g. Catania by Schachenmayr)
  • 2.5 mm crochet hook
  • 3.0 mm crochet hook
  • 1 pair of safety eyes in purple, diameter approx. 3 cm
  • 1 pair of false eyelashes
  • Craft stuffing approx. 300 g
  • 1 purple pool noodle
  • Glue suitable for Styrofoam
Note: If you really can’t get used to fluffy yarn, you can of course use “regular” yarn of a similar thickness. In that case, you won’t necessarily need the filet yarn as a carry-along yarn.

If you’d like it a little smaller, I have a crochet pattern for a tiny unicorn, also in shades of purple:

This unicorn is only 12 cm tall (when seated) and is crocheted from leftover yarn in shades of purple. It’s just the right size to take with you anywhere and is very easy to crochet.

As a decorative appliqué on a dress, shirt, gym bag, or similar item, this leaping unicorn will delight any girl! Of course, it’s also great for playing with—in which case, you’d best crochet a whole herd of unicorns ;-)

Mathilde the Unicorn is a large amigurumi that has enough space for a music box and can also be fitted with various rattles or crinkly elements, making it an enchanting toy and a lifelong companion for little ones .

The zebra is also large enough to accommodate a music box , and its neutral colors make it a great baby gift for both girls and boys.

For both patterns, I used a cotton yarn with a length of 125 m/50 g and worked with a size 2.5 or 3 crochet hook—this also depends a bit on your individual tension when crocheting.

These patterns are also suitable for crochet enthusiasts who are already comfortable with the basic stitches (starting in a magic ring, spiral rounds, single crochet, half double crochet, double crochet, slip stitch, chain stitch). But I’m also here to help if you have any questions.

Have fun crocheting :)
