Summer Yarn // Materials for Summer

Dear users, dear designers,
which yarn / which material is (or isn’t) suitable for summer? What do you understand by summer yarn?

I would definitely not use thick merino wool for summer. For me, cotton, linen, silk, or even hemp are the perfect summer yarns.

For me, wool—no matter what it’s made of—is a total no-go in the summer; just the sight of it makes sweat run down my back in streams. Since I sweat a lot anyway, I don’t own any sweaters anymore—I don’t even wear them in the winter. I gave everything my mom knitted for me to my oldest daughter, who loves wearing them and still knits the occasional sweater for herself today.

For me, summer wool isn’t just about the material—summer colors are important, too.

Personally, I don’t really care what season it is… I always choose the wool that brings me joy… Of course, on a hot summer day when it’s over 30°, cotton blended with a little viscose—or even silk—glides best through your hands… There are wonderful options for summer wool… Including wool blends with cotton… Or wool blended with silk—such lovely things… For crafting in the summer.... And sitting in the garden while doing that—what could be better? Warm regards from the Bavarian Forest

I love knitting outdoors in the garden the most.... Lace yarns in all kinds of colors... Light, airy patterns... My last summer project was a sweater made from merino lace yarn.

even on summer vacation in Italy, it’s perfect for knitting... though probably not this year... this year, I’ll be knitting at home in the garden....
