what are your plans?

This was my weekend project—the blazer is finished except for the buttonholes and buttons, because, as always, I don’t have the right buttons in stock

I’m in the process of organizing my shop here on Cp into collections… I’ve been here for three and a half years now, and I’ve accumulated over 840 patterns… I just finished sorting through scarves and scarf patterns… I was actually a bit surprised… there are 89 different designs… And sorting it all out is turning into a real chore.

How are things going with International Women’s Day?

Today I made a 91-year-old woman truly happy:
My friend had actually been taken to the nursing home for short-term care after her stroke. I visit her every day and always spend a good three hours with her.
Now her daughter has decided that her mother “wants to stay at the home,” which has made her absolutely heartbroken.
Yesterday, while we were doing crafts, we talked about how she always listened to music “at home” while doing crafts and needlework.
That was my cue: I simply used my walker to bring a small cabinet, her stereo, and her CDs to the nursing home.
You should have seen how her eyes sparkled—despite the tears in them. She zoomed around the room in her wheelchair to the beat of the music and was as happy as a little snow king.
Well, that’s how easy it is to make a loved one happy.

That was a kind gesture, Marlies. Tears of joy immediately welled up in my eyes—I know exactly how that feels, because I’ve worked in many nursing homes in Germany, and I always put my heart and soul into it. It felt so good to see the elderly residents happy when I was on duty.
They’re so grateful, and they deserve our respect and love.
