Video Tutorials

Dear users and authors,
do you find video tutorials helpful, or do you prefer PDFs?

Personally, I prefer PDFs because I can print them out and work with them offline.
However, short videos are sometimes helpful for individual steps that are easier to demonstrate that way.

I like videos. When I watch very difficult patterns / steps in a video, I can follow them better.

When watching the video, the pause button is very important for me. First I watch the whole video, then the 2nd time I try to follow the steps right away. If I’m too slow, then I use the pause button. 

Even with videos in other languages, it works quite well for me. 

I don't really like videos. I prefer PDFs. If someone explains things well in writing or with photos, that's completely enough for me. 

It depends. I don’t think following a video tutorial to crochet an amigurumi is ideal.

But for things like patterns or tips on how to make a magic ring, close a hole, weave in ends neatly, etc.—in other words, small details—I think videos are great. For example, I learned to crochet from videos; it was easier than following illustrated diagrams.

What bothers me about many videos are the often lengthy explanations and introductions at the beginning before the actual topic is addressed. Sometimes I feel like a video is artificially padded out.
That’s why I prefer written patterns, which I can then work through at my own pace.  But for some complicated patterns, a video is often more helpful because you can see the steps and don’t have to struggle to understand cumbersome descriptions.

With some videos, I find myself thinking, “Just get to the point already.”
Then I fast-forward to the part that interests me.

Patterns written as continuous text, practically without any punctuation, aren’t my thing either.
As long as they’re clearly organized, I prefer the written version.
