What fabric should I use for a potato bag?

Since I’ve only recently discovered sewing, I’m still a bit overwhelmed by all the different fabrics out there 😅 Maybe someone here can help me out 😊

I’d like to sew a bag or sack to store potatoes. The fabric should be breathable but also block out light. It’s important to me that I can wash it.

I’d appreciate it if someone here could give me a tip on the right fabric. Thanks in advance, and have a nice evening.

I’d go with cotton. It’s breathable and washes well at 60 degrees. Linen would also be an option.

But only for short-term storage. Otherwise, I’d recommend an open wooden crate in a dark, cool basement.

Hi, you can use inexpensive cotton muslin. It’s unprinted, affordable, durable, and washable.
