Hooray! It’s finally that time of year again! Let’s go on a sleigh ride!

The most important thing, of course, is the sleigh. And since it’s almost Christmas, Santa is sitting in it, and the sleigh is, of course, pulled by a reindeer:

 To crochet this, you’ll need:
For the sleigh:
  • Plastic tray or cardboard box, dimensions approx. L = 11 cm, W = 9 cm, H = 6 cm
  • Approx. 40 g cotton yarn (125 m/50 g) in wine red
  • leftover Creative Bubble gold
  • 2 craft sticks, 150 x 20 mm
  • 14 craft sticks, 55 x 5 mm
  • 1 small foam block, 6 x 4 x 2 cm (cleaning sponge)
  • Scrap of Katja Velvet Fine in dark red
For Santa Claus:
  • approx. 20 g cotton yarn (125 m/50 g) in signal red
  • Scrap of cotton yarn (125 m/50 g) in black
  • Scraps of Creative Bubble white iridescent
  • Scraps of Lenja Baby Smiles white
  • Scraps of cotton yarn (125 m/50 g) in soft apricot
  • Chenille wire, approx. 50 cm
  • Scrap of cotton yarn (125 m/50 g) brown
  • 2 half-beads, diameter approx. 3 mm
For the reindeer:
  • 15 g cotton yarn (125 m/50 g) in cinnamon
  • Scraps of brown cotton yarn
  • 20 cm of chenille wire
  • 3 half-beads, approx. 4 mm in diameter
Also:
  • stuffing
  • 2.5 mm crochet hook
  • 2.0 mm crochet hook
You’ll find the crochet pattern right here!

Of course, the sleigh can only glide smoothly if there has been plenty of snow. The little snowflakes are already waiting and are happy that they can finally float down to earth.

The snowflakes are about 12 cm tall. Since pipe cleaner wire is worked into the limbs, you can bend the arms and legs any way you like.

To crochet them, you’ll need:
  • leftover cotton yarn (approx. 125 m/50 g, e.g. Catania by Schachenmayr or Camilla by Woll Butt) in soft apricot,
    white
  • fluffy yarn (e.g. Doudou by Lang Yarns, 155 m/50 g) in white
  • silver glitter yarn (e.g. Four Seasons Glitter, 110 m/25 g)
  • doll hair yarn (e.g. Fluffy by Woll Butt) or mohair yarn in white for the hair
  • crochet hook size 2.5
  • polyester stuffing
  • 1 thick sewing needle for weaving in ends and sewing the pieces together
  • 1 pointed embroidery needle for embroidering the face
  • embroidery floss in black and red
  • chenille wire
  • optional glass beads, sequins

A snowman stands by the side of the road, waving to the passing sleigh riders. With his thick scarf and pom-pom hat, he’s bundled up warm so he won’t get cold. And if it does get even colder, he has a bottle hidden in his belly containing a warming alcoholic drink that he can fall back on in an emergency.

To crochet the snowman bottle cover, you’ll need:
  • approx. 100 g white cotton yarn (e.g., Rico Cotton, LL = 115 m / 50 g)
  • scraps of orange and black cotton yarn
  • Scraps of 5-ply sock yarn
  • 3.0 mm crochet hook
  • craft stuffing
  • 2 half-beads, black, approx. 12 mm in diameter
  • 3 black pom-poms, 20 mm in diameter
  • Glue
  • Optional: a pom-pom maker

A sleigh ride definitely calls for a warm head and neck. Here are the matching sets for men and women. Both are knitted using a knitting technique that creates an air cushion, so they keep you especially warm.

For knitters with experience.

Knitting pattern - cozy colorful hat with cowl for women

If you only want to keep your ears warm, this cleverly knitted headband will do the trick too. It is also knitted using the same technique as the hats.

The children need to stay warm too, so they can really enjoy the sleigh ride.
All the models shown are knitted in double face and are very comfortable to wear.

Here is the knitting pattern for "Beanie Hearts".

Here is the knitting pattern for "Beanie Mariposa".

And now I wish you a fast-paced sleigh ride :- )

On a sleigh ride, you need to keep your neck and head warm.
My Scoodie takes care of that. It’s quick to knit and has already served me well in Greenland.
All you need is 200g of yarn with a yardage of 250m per 100g.

Hand-knitted socks will keep your feet warm during the sleigh ride

Spiral Socks - Socks Without a Heel - so the socks fit across several sizes

The pattern is written for socks in sizes 14-18 up to shoe size 46-47. Knowledge of knit and purl stitches and practice with a set of double-pointed needles are recommended. The loop pattern is well described in the pattern.

And these stylish, warm wrist warmers will keep your hands nice and toasty. They look like they’re knitted, but they’re actually crocheted. They’re crocheted in spiral rounds—with no seams or visible joins.

For this sleigh ride, the baby definitely needs the right wrapping.

These  little booties will keep those little feet warm. Quick to knit with a set of double-pointed needles and leftover yarn, they’re just right for the cold season.

And to keep the whole baby cozy, a blanket is of course a must.

For this blanket, you need to know knit and purl stitches. To create the cable look, you need no cable needle.
