I'd love to see how you've decorated your Advent wreaths.
Here's mine

Andrea, your wreath is really cheerful and colorful :)

Ours isn’t quite as colorful. I can’t put up a wreath because our chubby cat would always lie on it, and the pine needles would end up covered in cat hair. That’s why we keep ours low-maintenance (see above)

Andrea: Your wreath is really cheerful, but I still prefer the classic style :-)

Mel: I think your alternative is very successful

I don't have one. I usually buy ours on the first Sunday of Advent at a small Christmas market nearby. Since I was in the hospital on the first Sunday of Advent, we weren’t there, and now I don’t have one. Let’s see if I can still whip something up.

Here’s my Advent wreath. This time, it has tea lights made of real beeswax. They come from a workshop run by people with disabilities and are really high quality. Of course, they don’t have any wrappers.

By the way, I found the regular refillable tea lights at d.m. without plastic packaging—just in a cardboard box. They burn for 6 hours, and I’m totally thrilled because they burn almost without leaving any residue. They’re almost always sold out at our store.

This year we don’t have a real Advent wreath because we’d rather have the homemade one made of pom-poms on the table in the sunroom. It definitely doesn’t shed needles and can be quickly put away when you need the table. Of course, it’s just one candle that’s lit.

To add to this Advent wreath thread, I’ll also show you my homemade one from 2016, which I put together using various evergreen branches. I included everything green I could find in my garden and my neighbor’s. I collected the pinecones in the forest and painted the edges with glitter from a tube. In the end, it was so large that it had to stay on the garden table outside the kitchen window and was only brought inside on Advent Sundays.

I hope you continue to enjoy looking at all these unique Advent wreaths.
Warm regards from Ina

P.S. Andrea and Mel—I think yours are very beautiful too, though one would be too colorful for me and the other too simple. To each their own—whatever they like and find beautiful.

Hi Monika,
yours is really beautiful, too—it looks so traditional. And one little candle’s already been lit :-)

And thank you so much for the tip about the tea lights at DM. I just saw a post about that the other day. Well, too much plastic has been and still is being used everywhere, so it’s great to find alternatives.

Best regards—Ina

Such beautiful Advent wreaths—and so different!

This is my Advent wreath. I decorate it the same way every year. I like it traditional, in red. Santa Claus is a new addition this year. It’s a reversible doll I made myself that can also be used as an Easter bunny :-))

Thanks, Ina! :)
We refresh this Advent wreath every year. We liked it when we saw it in a shop at some point, so it’s definitely sustainable. What I especially like is that I can use tea lights in it. They sit in stainless steel holders that I once bought at Waschbär.

The tea lights at d.m. come in a cardboard box, and there are 18 in it for 1.75. A really good deal. By the way, I keep reusing the remaining aluminum cups with these tea lights. They fit perfectly.

By the way, I think all your wreaths are very beautiful and decorative, each in its own way. The main thing is that you like it.

It’s also a nice idea to get a little taste of the Advent atmosphere here and take a peek into some of your living rooms. :)

Yes, that's true Monika, a little glimpse into your Advent rooms. Such gorgeous Advent wreaths. Thank you for showing them. There's something for everyone.

Ina, I think your Advent arrangement with those green-and-white candles is really wonderful. It doesn't always have to be red. It really has something special.

Even simple and understated Advent arrangements. Sometimes less is more. When you have pets at home, you do have to keep a few things in mind, I understand.

Then I wish you all a lovely 2nd Advent in advance.

Dear Ruth,
I also like your traditional red Advent wreath. When I was a child, we always had only red candles on the Advent wreath, in candle holders just like yours. I also find the “reversible Santa” very intriguing. Am I understanding it correctly: You turn him inside out and then he’s an Easter bunny??? That would be brilliant.
Best wishes - Ina

Wow, that’s just perfect. Did you crochet that yourself, Ruth?

Dear Iona, I really like your Advent arrangement, even though I’m not really a fan of white candles. At our house, they were always red… In recent years, we didn’t have a wreath at all: The apartment was so well heated that I always had to put it on the balcony during the week, so I used a metal wreath with four candles and a few ornaments. Our house is less heated now, but somehow I’ve stuck with that alternative. Last Saturday, I forgot to buy candles, so we decided on the spot to dip into our substantial stash in the basement and placed four candles of the right size into the pewter candleholder—a gift from my late mother-in-law. As soon as I’ve added some more decorations, I’ll post a picture.

Yes, I crocheted Santa myself. You can follow along and crochet your own here, too ;-)

Oh my gosh, Sandra—it took me two looks to realize that’s wool. At first I was wondering, “Where are the wool pom-poms?” It looks soooo real. Great idea.

Thanks... At first I wanted to make real ornaments, but I realized early on that it takes a really long time and is a lot of work🙈🙄
