Good question. :)
I hope we’re all healthy, and I’m already looking forward to some nice conversations. My friend is coming to visit us for four weeks, and that’s a wonderful gift.
Plus, I have the best husband in the world—my greatest gift in life.
We only give Christmas gifts to our grandchildren these days; we just treat each other to little things every now and then. As a special exception, my friend is getting gifts this time—just as a thank-you for being in our lives.
A delicious vegan meal with the family, homemade, is of course also an absolute highlight.
Whether we’ll see the grandkids is still up in the air. But that’s not all that important to me, especially at Christmas. There are other occasions, after all, and those feel just like Christmas. :)
We’re going to the mountains for Christmas and New Year’s. Spending time with my family is very important to me. We don’t exchange gifts with each other.
In our family, only the children get presents for Christmas.
Monika, I’m afraid I have to disagree with you, because I have the best husband in the world ;)
We don’t give each other gifts for Christmas—only the kids get presents. I have knitted a few pairs of socks to give away, but more as a thank-you for the Christmas invitation :)
What do I want for Christmas? Time spent with my family and friends. Everything is festively decorated, the table is beautifully set, the food is made with love, candles are burning, and the children’s eyes are full of wonder. I don’t need material things to be happy. Only the grandchildren get gifts—and only homemade ones. These days, limiting gifts to a few meaningful items is the better way to give.
Because that’s how we do things in our family, no one feels stressed about buying gifts. We can truly enjoy the Christmas season together.
I only want one thing for Christmas: for my mother to get better so we can celebrate Christmas together again. I don’t care where or how—as long as we’re together. My mom is doing a little better now, but she’s still suffering from the aftereffects of a stroke and a pulmonary embolism. Fortunately, everything turned out okay—but she’s back in the hospital right now. So my biggest wish is that we can all spend Christmas together under the tree once more, simply enjoying the time we have left together.
