what is a paisley pattern?

A paisley pattern is a fabric pattern consisting primarily of curving, teardrop- or leaf-like shapes, which are in turn decorated with ornaments. It is usually used in bold colors.
The name “paisley” is derived from the Scottish town of Paisley, which was known for its textile production.
The Paisley pattern is very old. It experienced a renaissance in the 1970s with the hippie movement, then went out of style, and is now increasingly seen on fabrics again.
