Knots in the yarn

Hi,

I crocheted my first bag following the pattern. It wasn’t hard—just brown yarn and single crochet stitches, working in rounds to form the bag’s bottom. The only annoyance is that there was a knot in the yarn, and it’s ruining the delicate crocheted design on the bag. I’ve now bought something to sew on top of it as a stopgap solution (a little flower). Hmm, but it’s just a stopgap solution. What do you do when a silly knot like that pops up right in the middle? Do you have any tips?

I always cut the knots out beforehand and then weave in the ends.
It’s always better that way, because the knot might come undone at some point, and then you’ll have a hole in your beautiful work.

I do it like Marion. When I see the knot coming, I cut the yarn and rejoin it.

I don’t leave knots in the yarn either. Most of them are loosely tied, and I’m afraid they’ll come undone. I untie them and then sew them in or retie them (I think it’s called a “Frankfurt knot”).

I undo the knot and then make a Frankfurt knot—it’s barely visible and holds really securely. If it ever ends up on the right side with thicker yarn, I pull it through to the back with my crochet hook.
