I totally agree with you—it’s wonderful.
Today we took the twins to the forest playgroup, which starts at an organic farm where they get to pet cows, watch ducklings, observe chickens, and play and run around in the woods. It’s just so sweet to see how happy the little ones are every time, especially with such great weather

We happened to pass by a huge construction site today.

The excitement was probably similar to Deleila’s little ones. :-)

It took a very long time before we could leave, but it was really sweet

During his early years, my grandson lived right in the heart of the city in Schwabing. So whenever my daughter took him shopping, they always had to walk past a construction site. That meant shopping always took forever. And one of his first words was “excavator.” At first, his dad was really proud because he thought the little guy was saying “Daddy,” but he was clearly saying EXCAVATOR!

My two kids also picked up how to use a backhoe pretty quickly—probably because Dad spent a lot of time this year digging and renovating the garden with one, and they even rode along with him. I think it’s important to give little ones as much time as possible to explore everything, even if everyday life doesn’t always allow for it. And when you’re rewarded with a smile and sparkling eyes, it’s just wonderful.

Anton isn’t much of a talker. :-) But his eyes were definitely sparkling. I think we’ll head back to the construction site again. I hope he gets a book about construction sites for his birthday on Saturday—one that explains the different kinds of excavators. I realized today that this isn’t really my thing at all. :-)

I still have to learn about that. There were definitely eight different kinds of “excavators,” and I couldn’t say a thing about them.

Anton will explain the differences to you soon! My grandson was able to tell them apart very early on and knew the different terms exactly.
