Dear users, dear designers,
Do you like macramé? Do any of you make it?

I’m seeing more and more ads from craft and hobby stores promoting macramé projects. Back in the ’70s and ’80s, it was all the rage, and I even received some very decorative pieces—hanging baskets, an owl, and a sun wheel—as gifts from my friends and my sister-in-law. I really liked them back then. Unfortunately, none of them are left anymore. The owl, which had gotten completely covered in dust, was thrown away during a move, and the hanging planters and the sun wheel were torn apart by birds, who found the material perfect for building their nests.
I don’t make things like that myself, and my taste has changed a bit too. I’m not sure if I’d hang something like that up again today. But who knows—maybe if I see it more often in the future...?

I used to do macramé, too—hanging planters and shoulder bags. But just as every trend comes back around, so does this one. It’s just been updated and presented in a more contemporary way, so that these pieces fit into modern living again today. But I’m not really drawn to them right now.

I used to do a bit of macramé myself.
Among other things, I made a belt that got lost during one of my many moves.

A while back, I bought a macramé book with more modern patterns.
I haven’t made anything from it yet, though.

Forty years ago, I also made a few things using the macramé technique.
I still have two lamps today that used to hang in the living room and dining room. A few years ago, I rediscovered my Advent wreath and actually started using it again. It can still be decorated very beautifully.

I used to do macramé, too—I really enjoyed it back then. I wouldn’t mind if it became trendy again.
It goes pretty well with the boho style, which is still in fashion, right?

It used to be really popular; I made hanging planters and bags. Back then, I had some beautiful, colorful macramé cord.
For Christmas, I bought a new book called “Macramé,” which has lots of old and new projects you can make. For now, I’ve just made one hanging planter.
Macramé is coming back into style.
