it’s time for the awards ceremony / the April edition of the current title highlights.

Taking part in the final stretch / the April awards ceremony: How is it done?
Please copy the section below between the asterisks here in the thread into your text field and fill it out accordingly or check what applies. Of course, you can delete anything that doesn’t apply.

When does it start?
The April awards ceremony will take place around May 2/3. But I’ll still add you later, too.

Who can take part in the April awards ceremony?
Every user and every author can take part here. Simply write a post in the thread and you’re in. :- )

As always, this also applies to the April awards ceremony: Even small steps count.
No one goes home without a title or extra karma points. If someone had a very stressful everyday life in April, that can also be honored with an honorary title or extra karma points. If necessary, I’ll invent a fitting title.

Earn extra points / bonus points and boost your karma:
- There are always extra points for (your own uploaded ) photos. Please don’t upload images that aren’t yours.
- Handmade items that are given to dear people as gifts also earn extra points.

Yes, I’m happy to join in again! I think I was quite busy and productive last month (patting myself on the back!).
Here is my summary:
*****************************************

Best with Leftovers in April
[x ] In April I used up a lot of my pretty and colorful leftover yarn
/ emptied my basket of leftovers and thereby earned the title
Best with Leftovers.

Details about the leftover yarn projects:
All of the patterns I published in April contain leftover yarn: the bathrobes for the Barbie dolls, the dish sponges, the hand puppets, and the little beaded purse. For the hand puppets, however, I did buy some extra yarn as well. So the stash of leftover yarn probably always stays the same. The main thing is that it doesn’t get bigger ;-)

Yarn Diet / Yarn Emperor/Empress / Inner Couch Potato Conqueror in April
There’s no yarn diet for me. As I’ve mentioned a few times before, I don’t feel like limiting my creativity through self-imposed abstinence. I do try, however, to use the leftovers that result in a sensible way (see above)

Shopping Queen / King in April:
[x ] In April I only bought urgently needed yarn.
Details:
That’s lots of colorful balls of yarn, for which the projects are already finished (in my head). I hope I’ll get to them in May :-)

Busy Little Helper in April
[ x] In April I was able to do / finish lots of handicrafts.
Besides my patterns, I embroidered a little flag for the Easter lamb. (The doily is already a few years old, but also made by me)
Details:

So that was probably 12 craft projects (or 10, because in 2 patterns several patterns are combined—value packs)

[x ] I was also very busy in April beyond handicrafts / in everyday life.
Details :
With my granddaughter I made pretty fuse-bead pictures and did lots of modeling clay. I also baked Easter lambs, Easter flatbreads, and Easter bunny cookies for my children’s families for Easter.

Pattern Optimization Champion + Hero of the Authors = Author Title
[ x] I uploaded at least one pattern in April.
It was even 9 (!) patterns (or 11, if you want to count the value packs separately),
namely:
Bathrobes for Barbie Dolls

Lucky Clover Dish Sponge

 Kasperl Hand Puppet

 Gretel Hand Puppet

Seppel Hand Puppet

Grandmother Hand Puppet

Robber Hand Puppet

Crocodile Hand Puppet

Little Beaded Purse

[x ] In April I worked on the current seasonal topics (Easter, spring
etc.) and uploaded one or more patterns for them,
or will still do so.
Details :
The beaded purse is intended for Mother’s Day or First Communion.

[x ] In April I uploaded / revised a pattern on always-current
evergreen topics such as leftover yarn, beginners, animals, owls, mermaids, etc.
Details:
see above under Best with Leftovers

[x ] In April I revised and improved my images, texts, and my shop.
Details:
I’m still in the process of adapting the product texts of old patterns to the new template.
(In April:
- Finger Puppets Lion, Hippo, Monkey,
- Finger Puppets: Elephant, Giraffe, Crocodile
- Finger Puppets: Snowman, Elk, Santa Claus
- Surprise Figures Bunny and Chick
- Cactus Pincushion
I’m still lagging a bit behind with the photos, because I would partly have to crochet the models again. (but it’s staying in the back of my mind)

[x ] I developed further as an author in April.
Details:
I’m in the process of learning my way around a computer program for crochet charts. However, it’s proving very tedious :-(

Learned Something New in April
[x ] In April I learned something new (e.g., a new technique / stitches etc.) and am therefore a winner. :- )
Details:
As mentioned above, I’m currently learning crochet charts on the computer. I still can’t say that I have learned it, but I’m already a little wiser and want to keep at it.

Start of Spring / Gardening Season
[x ] On cool days / evenings, I wrapped myself in a
cozy blanket for crafting or otherwise kept myself warm, and I had
a lot of fun doing it.
Details:
That’s why I don’t need heating even on cool evenings!

[x ] I also had / have made preparations beyond handicrafts for Easter / spring / Pentecost / summer.
Details:
see the baked goods above. Of course, I also put up Easter decorations in April. (Unfortunately they have to come down again this weekend.)

[x ] I made use of the sunny days and had fun in the garden / park / on the balcony, etc.
Details:
Whenever possible, I do my crafts on the balcony. If it gets as hot in summer as it did last year, then unfortunately that won’t be possible anymore.

So that’s it! It turned into quite a long list after all. It feels good to write it all down; then you can see how much you managed to accomplish in a month. Thank you, Josefa!

ResteBeste in April
[ x] In April I used up lots of my pretty, colorful leftover yarn / emptied my leftovers basket, and earned myself the title ResteBeste.
I knitted the doll clothes for my granddaughter from leftover yarn, and the placemats with the coasters as well.

Yarn Diet / Yarn Empress / Inner-Pig-Dog Conqueror in April
[ ]x I haven’t bought any yarn for quite a long time. The title Yarn Empress definitely and deservedly belongs to me.
I haven’t bought any yarn since November 2018 and want to keep it up, at least until I visit someone in a yarn shop someday. But the date for that hasn’t been set yet. I hope I can hold out even then. So I am actually working on becoming an Inner-Pig-Dog Conqueror.

Busy Little Helper in April
[x ] I was able to finish / complete lots of handmade projects in April.

  • Finished knitting a baby jacket - gift for my second grandchild

  • Knitted pants and a sweater for my granddaughter’s doll - Easter gift

  • Knitted a sleeping bag for my granddaughter’s doll - Easter gift

  • Crocheted a diaper for my granddaughter’s doll - Easter gift

  • Knitted a sleeping bag for my little teddy bear

  • Started knitting a triangular shawl for myself, also a summer top with a lace pattern for myself. And I also started a jacket for my doll. All three will go into next month as UFOs.

  • Crocheted a placemat with 2 coasters as an addition to my flower meadow.

[ x] I was also very busy in April beyond handmade projects / in everyday life.
I took part in a live seminar (personal development) and an online course on face reading. Very interesting!

Learned Something New in April
[ x] I learned something new in April (e.g., a new technique / stitches, etc.) and am therefore a winner. :- )
I learned a new technique for crocheting seams on knitted pieces together so that the seam looks great. I also developed a new lace pattern that I’m knitting into my new top.

Starting Spring / the Gardening Season
[ x] On cool days / evenings, I wrapped myself in a cozy blanket for crafting or otherwise kept warm, and I had lots of fun doing it.
[ x] I made use of the sunny days and had fun in the garden and on the balcony, etc.

[ x] I uploaded at least one pattern in April.

So this time, I’d like to apply for the “Yarn Diet” title, because I didn’t buy any new yarn all of April. Instead, I replenished my stash by unraveling old UFOs.
Most of my knitting projects are still in progress, but my mystery shawl is finished and blocked. That was so much fun that I’ve already started the next mystery project...

Leftover Yarn Champion: In April, I made the following from leftover yarn/my yarn stash:

8 Easter baskets. (Picture shown)
2 Tunisian crocheted chickens (picture attached)
3 little chicks

Shopping Queen / King in April:

A few skeins of cotton for my grandchild’s jacket are new, since I didn’t have the right colors.

Hardworking Little Helper in April

The April list isn’t all that long: in addition to the Easter items already mentioned, I sewed:
1 cuddly bunny for my little grandson
1 little pouch for my friend
(pictures attached)

Learned Something New in April

I tried out my new sewing machine (computerized sewing machine) on the little pouch.

You can also write down anything else that comes to mind here.

Unfortunately, the two main projects I’d planned for April fell victim to my illness: neither the shopping net for my sister (an unfinished project from March) nor the little jacket for my grandson got finished.

Addendum to my April projects:

2 cell phone pouches made from leftover yarn. The second pouch - for my daughter - is in a similar color scheme, but crocheted in a floral pattern following a pattern by mimameid:ana. Unfortunately, I don’t have a picture of it.

thank you very much for your, as always, wonderful words and special titles for the awards ceremony! I’m always really excited to see what you come up with again and again! It’s incredibly motivating!

Josefa, you’re absolutely amazing!! You’ve written this so beautifully again. Thank you so much for that!
I was especially happy about “Grandma of the Month”! That really is a wonderful title. :-)

However, I found one sentence that isn’t quite right:
Wool Empress in April for sticking to it without buying wool

Shouldn’t it rather say: “without buying wool” or “sticking to the wool diet”? After all, without a wool diet, there’s no such thing as a Wool Empress.

In any case, I’ve decided to keep it up for even longer. I’m super well-equipped for my next projects.

Hello Josefa, here I am :)

UFO King/Queen in April
[ x ] In April I finished a UFO (unfinished object = a handmade project that had been sitting around for a while ) and earned the title UFO King/Queen.   Details about the UFO / UFOs:

A felted bag only needed the zipper - I finally sewed it in!

Best of Leftovers in April
[ x ] In April I used up lots of my pretty, colorful leftover yarn / emptied my leftovers basket, and earned the title Best of Leftovers.    Details about the leftover-yarn projects:

I crocheted baskets for Easter.

Yarn diet / Yarn Emperor/Empress / Willpower Champion in April
[ x ] I did not buy any yarn in April and therefore earned the title Yarn Emperor/Empress in April for a whole month without buying yarn.

I hadn’t actually planned a yarn diet, but my small stash is enough right now for the things I’m currently making.

Busy Little Helper in April
[ x ] In April I was able to complete / finish many handmade projects.
Please write details about the April projects or the number of projects here.

I made new decorations for Easter, e.g. a table decoration with eggshells and cress seeds - I also decorated goose eggs for my new decorative branch with feathers and lace (the picture is with the concrete projects)

I crocheted this bunny

I modeled and designed Ms. Brushhead from an old paintbrush.

I crocheted / finished 3 felted bags (see new patterns for photos)

I gave my doll a hairstyle - but she isn’t finished yet, because I think the face is awful and will still change it.

[ x ] In April I was also very busy beyond handmade projects / in everyday life. Please write details here, if you would like to share them.

We planted the balcony and went through part of our cupboards / sorted out a few things... I do find that hard, but afterward it feels incredibly freeing.

Pattern Optimization Champion + Hero of the Authors = author title
[ x ] I uploaded at least one pattern in April. Please write details here. Link+image allowed. I finished three patterns for crocheted felted bags...

Felted Bag Rosalie
 - the long-term UFO.

Felted Bag Miriam - a wonderful little handbag made from feltable wool that I was given and simply love.

Felted Bag Margerit - a really large bag that can handle quite a lot.

Concrete-casting specialist: enjoying the sunshine.
[ x ] In April I created a lovely concrete-casting project and possibly earned extra weather-related points. Details:

I cast bases for my brushheads and my Easter tree - not especially elaborate, but very practical.

Rescuer of the stubborn yarn / stubborn material, formerly called Rescuer of stepchild yarn //Rescuer of stepchild material in April
[ x ] In April I used up old, unloved yarn and am therefore a rescuer of the stubborn yarn / yarn rescuer.      Details:

I used part of my unloved yarn to make baskets

Learned something new in April
[ x ] In April I learned something new (e.g. a new technique / stitches etc. ) and am therefore a winner. :- ).   Details:

For the first time, I made a doll’s hairstyle with brushed-out wool... a very fuzzy affair.

Start of spring / the gardening season
[ x ] On cool days / evenings I wrapped myself in a cozy blanket for crafting or otherwise kept warm, and I had lots of fun doing it.  Details:

I took the cozy blanket out onto the balcony, since we already had a few nice sunny days... but in the evenings the blanket was still very welcome.

[ x ] I had / have also made preparations beyond crafting for Easter / spring / Pentecost / summer.  Details:

We were at my parents-in-law’s over Easter... since the two of them aren’t quite as fit anymore, I cooked on Monday and also brought a cake... that always takes a bit of effort and planning, since we live 350 km apart.

[ x ] I used the sunny days and had fun in the garden / in the park / on the balcony, etc.  Details:

When the weather was good, we were out and about as often as possible - for example here in the Harz at the Hexentanzplatz.

I also sat on the balcony and crocheted.

Sorry, I unfortunately couldn’t make it this time because I’ve had a new job for the past 3 weeks. Since my work hours are always in the afternoons and evenings, I barely had time for anything.

But I did finish my poncho sweater (photo to follow—it’s drying right now). The pattern for it is also in the final stages.
I finished a book frog and gave it to my “future daughter-in-law” for her birthday, and I knitted the cute doll sleeping bag for Monika as a test knit and gave it to my daughter for her favorite stuffed animal.

Once again, thank you so much, Josefa! I just read it now—I wasn’t on the forum at all yesterday—which hasn’t happened in a long time—but I’m still a bit cautious when it comes to computers and such. Fortunately, I’m almost back to normal, and crocheting is going great anyway! ((7 makeup-remover-pad kittens are still waiting to have their ends woven in.))

Oh, wow, Mel—your poncho sweater looks great. And it looks like it took quite a lot of yarn. ;-)

Christina, I hope you feel better soon. I just now really realized that you weren’t feeling so well.

I’ve added Fun-Design and Nadeleule to the list.
Is there anyone else without a title?
Get well soon, everyone, and have a great May.

Dear Josefa,
I just read it. Thank you so much for the “UFO Queen” title and the bunny. Yippee! I was so happy to read your kind words—it really motivates me for the next project. This is my first title here—thank you.

And once again, you’ve all finished such amazing things. It’s incredible what our hands can conjure up with yarn, imagination, and ideas.
