Which lasts the longest and feels the best?

If you want to wear them in shoes, I’d knit them, because that way they won’t be too thick. It also depends on the material—the yarn should be high-quality. Wool with ramie is hard to find, but it’s very durable. Otherwise, I’d use good-quality sock yarn.
If you want to wear them instead of slippers, you can crochet or knit them. I don’t know much about sewn socks, but I can imagine that the seams would press in the shoe.

Crocheting socks is probably easier than knitting them. You first have to learn how to use a set of double-pointed needles that has four needles plus an “active” needle—
especially when it comes to knitting the heel and toe.
That’s a bit easier to learn with crochet.
With crochet, you can also use thinner yarn, so they probably won’t turn out as thick.
@orimono: What is ramie?

Sewn socks often have some kind of padding or fleece lining, so then your shoes may no longer fit.
And I believe that too about the seams pressing.

Sewing socks? Hmm... You could sew crocheted or knitted pieces together, but I honestly wouldn't sew them directly from fabric right from the start. Best regards, Karo.

Socks are great to sew—you just need to use the right fabrics, and then they’ll be very cozy and warm. I just saw some sewn socks on the homepage here, and I’ve sewn a few myself that feel great and last a very long time. You can probably wear sewn socks longer than crocheted or knitted ones. Unless, of course, you reinforce the so-called “wear areas.” But even then, you’ll still have to do some sewing.

I’ve already knitted and crocheted socks, but I’m not familiar with self-sewn ones. What kind of fabric do you use for that?

@orimono, I’m assuming she means these socks: https://www.crazypatterns.net/de/items/449/hausschuhe-puschen-gr-35-45

As long as they’re warm :)

You can’t really wear them in regular shoes, and I also don’t think you should walk around outside in them.
They don’t look waterproof, and I don’t know how much wear the soles can take,
but I think they’re absolutely great.
I guess “sock brake” is whatever goes on the bottom of the sole so you don’t slip.
I’d never even heard that word before.

I only wear knitted socks, and I think they’re the best. When it comes to socks, knitting is the way to go.
