Help with stitch increases

I’m linking you to a video that shows how to knit a shawl (the lace pattern section) and how increases are supposed to be made. But I’m not getting any, and I don’t know why. At the beginning, I knit 2 stitches from 1 stitch and then k2tog, as in the instructions. Where could I be going wrong?

Thanks a million for your help, Mari

Hello Mari, the first stitch is doubled. Then you knit 2 stitches together - Then comes a yarn over; with this yarn over, you have balanced out the decrease again.

Knit 2 stitches together, a yarn over, knit 2 stitches together, a yarn over.

Dear Petra, that’s exactly how I do it—including the yarn over! And it looks like it’s getting wider, too—so why is the number of stitches staying the same??? I really can’t figure it out—I’ll take a photo for you! I’d knitted this before and unraveled it again. I even have the pattern written down ????‍♀️???? Thanks, thanks! I’ll check out your blog later!

An example:
I cast on 16 stitches
I double the 1st stitch = 2 stitches on the right needle  and 15 stitches on the left needle

I knit 2 stitches together and a yarn over = 4 stitches on the right needle and 13 stitches on the left needle = 17 stitches

I repeat this until the last  3 stitches on the left needle (I have 14 stitches on the right needle incl. yarn overs)

Then I just slip the 3 stitches and turn.

Then 3 stitches are knitted. Then comes the yarn over first with a purl stitch (4 stitches on the right needle) When I purl the remaining stitches, I have 17 stitches, so one stitch more.

I lost the yarn over at the beginning when turning. Maybe that happened to you too. So in the wrong side row, after the 3 knit stitches, a yarn over must come first, which is purled, and then the stitch from knitting together.

Maybe it was the yarn over

Oh man, you’re the best! This is helping me so much right now! I’ll start again from that point and pay attention to the yarn over on the wrong side row! You’re a sweetheart! Thanks a million!

???????????? I’m going to check out your blog now!!
