GAUGE:     
18sts and 20 rows over 10x10 cm (4x4ins) in stockinette stitch using 5.5omm (No 9) needles

Basic knitting knowledge is required at an intermediate level or if you are comfortable with yarn change of color within a row

Kids up to 6 years; (To make a tighter band for a small child use smaller needles eg  4.5mm (US 8) to work first   2.5mm (1 inch) ribbing
