This wonderful accessory is quick and simple to crochet in a fabulous sports weight yarn. A crochet pattern for a Starburst Beret that starts in the center with a "starburst" and continues the shaping with mostly double crochet stitches. A tie is threaded through the eyelet round to stabilize the beret and to adjust for fit.

Materials: Yarn: The beret shown in the photographs is crocheted in Perfection Sport (a sports weight or size 2 yarn) from Kraemer Yarns. You can use almost any sports weight yarn that will produce a gauge of 5 sts and 3 rnds in double crochet (dc). Approximately 300 yards will be needed to complete this lovely beret.
Tools: U.S. size G crochet hook.

I really wanted the pattern to make a crochet waistcoat for myself like the one I made for myself when i was about 29 years old which is a long time ago now. I'm 79 yrs old now
Not an easy pattern to follow (I ended up sewing each flower together separately as I couldn't get the hang of the joining. It still turned out well though.
