Knitting pattern for ribbed and textured beanie "Silly Blowball Hat"

Produktbeschreibung

The "Silly Blowball Hat" - a beanie knitting pattern for a textured and ribbed hat using DK weight wool yarn. Don't laugh! Sometimes knit designers have troubles finding a poetic name for their patterns.

The pattern is not one that is suitable for absolute beginners, there are some stitches involved that call for knitting experience. Very pretty stitches, in my opinion. It is not a difficult pattern though. What you have to know is increases, decreases, double increases and double decreases, and knitting in the round of course.

The sample shown in the pictures was made out of Steinbach Eroica, which is a dk weight wool/nylon blend. Any similar yarn will work. The pattern has been tested by several people who used a variety of yarns from acrylic to pure wool, one lady used a sport weight wool held together with a sock yarn, and I am happy to say that all of them had good results. Some people even said that the inside looks just as good as the outside. It might be a reversible hat, but that's of course up to you. It is a beautiful accessory that can be worn on cold days.

If you purchase the pattern, start knitting and (which I don't hope) get to a point where you don't know how to go on, my contact info is in the pattern. I am always happy to help. Please bear in mind that I sometimes need to sleep and don't spend all day on the internet. But I check my mails every day.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Writing a knitting pattern is hard work. The really difficult part of it is finding a name for it. I have no idea how others do, for me it is like no name/no pattern. I had this hat knitted up for half a year, the pattern written up, but hey, what do I call this silly hat? Until the day in late spring when I went for a walk and saw those dandelions that had lost their color. Blowballs! So here we go with the Silly Blowball Hat.

It is not a silly pattern. It only has a silly name. It is worked from the bottom to the top in a DK weight yarn, using a fun and interesting textured stitch pattern. Only one size, adult medium – the stitch pattern is very stretchy and will make for a hat that will fit many heads.

The pattern is written and charted.

Difficulty level: intermediate (increases and double increases, decreases and double decreases, working in the round on DPNs or circular needles)

Yarn: Steinbach Eroica (55% nylon, 45% wool; 114m/50g; 125yds/1.76oz) or any similar DK weight yarn, 2 balls. Sample used 126m (138yds).

Needles: 4mm/US 6 set of 5 DPNs or circulars

Notions: yarn needle, 1 stitch marker (when using circular needles)

Gauge: 24 stitches/28 rows in stockinette stitch = 10cm/4in.

Size: medium adult: circumference 42cm (16 3/4in) unstretched, stretches to 56cm (22in). 22cm (8 3/4in) from bottom to top.

okay
