The "Garter Hug" is a knitting pattern for a stole in rounded shape. The name says it all, there are no purl stitches involved. It is a chevron pattern that uses knit stitches only. The length of the shawl is easily adjustable.
The shape helps with keeping the shawl on your shoulders - which is often a problem when wearing shawls and you haven't got a shawl pin on your hands. It is achieved by working short rows (shown in a photo tutorial). A schematic will help to visualize the way how the stole is worked.
This is not a pattern for absolute beginners, but not difficult either. You need to know how to work decreases and double decreases, also the short row shaping is not suitable for knitting beginners. Basic knitting knowledge should be existing.
The sample shown in the pictures was made out of Schulana Antigua, which is an aran weight alpaca/merino yarn with a small amount of nylon added. Any yarn in a similar weight will work for the pattern. The pattern has been tested by several people. One person used Malabrigo Sock, classified as a light fingering, and had good results. Also cotton yarns or acrylic work well.

Gauge: 24 stitches/18 rows in chevron pattern = 10cm/4in.
Size: 35cm (14in) in width, the length is adjustable.

Die Anleitung ist okay und gut nachvollziehbar. Jede Reihe ist einzeln Masche für Masche beschrieben. Mehrere Maschenproben waren aufgrund großer Abweichungen nötig. Für den Preis fehlt mir eine Großaufnahme der Stelle des Anfangs der Arbeit, der Mittellinie und der Ecken, sowie eine Schemazeichnung. Beim Stöbern bin ich im Nachhinein auf eine ähnliche, kostenlose Anleitung gestoßen.
