In the mood for something new?

A fresh breeze comes to the table during Advent.
Instead of the traditional round wreath made of fir greenery, lifebuoys bring maritime flair to the pre-Christmas season—now that’s a very different Advent wreath.

Crochet pattern for a different kind of Advent wreath

It is crocheted with chain stitches, slip stitches, single crochet stitches, as well as half double crochet and double crochet stitches.
The pattern is well suited for beginners.

**********************************************

This Advent calendar is also a wonderful winter decoration, and it’s perfect for the whole family. Every evening, Mother Hulda’s bag is filled and the shutters are closed. This makes the wait for Christmas exciting in a fairy-tale way.

Mother Hulda Advent calendar

To make it, you should be familiar with the following:
magic ring, chain stitches, slip stitches, single crochet stitches, half double crochet stitches, as well as increasing and decreasing stitches.

********************************************

This makes your money gift more personal; after the sack is emptied, the picture can still serve as a fun Christmas decoration.

Made from leftover yarn, it is quick and easy to crochet using chain stitches, slip stitches, single crochet stitches, as well as half double crochet and double crochet stitches

Money gift as Christmas decoration

You can find exact material details in the pattern descriptions. All patterns are written beginner-friendly, without abbreviations.

An Easter bunny for Christmas?
Surprise! Just turn it inside out, like this: And what do you get?
That’s right, Santa Claus!
Isn’t that an original idea? Whether as a Secret Santa gift or for yourself, you simply have to have this “Nikolausi Easter Bunny”! It’s not hard to crochet. I used Catania cotton yarn and some white fluffy yarn.

Colorful Advent Calendar

What would Christmas—or the exciting time leading up to it—be without it? A little surprise every day is sure to delight everyone. This cheerful Advent calendar consists of 24 colorful pouches that you can crochet using just a few grams of yarn and a size 3.5 crochet hook. You can use all your colorful yarn scraps!

Afterward, you can decide whether you want to hang the pouches on a coat hanger—so you can carry it from one room to the next—or hang it on the wall:

Or you can arrange all the little pouches on a festively decorated tray. The red stars with the numbers 1 through 24 are included as a printable template.

So you can get started right away with crocheting and decorating. And of course, you’ll need to fill them with candy or little surprises at the end ;-)

A grandma once wrote to me saying she’d made one of these Advent calendars for each of her five grandchildren. That’s 120 little bags! She enjoyed crocheting them because it’s pretty straightforward and you make quick progress. Plus, she was able to use up her colorful yarns. And her grandchildren had fun all through December—and Grandma was the best!

After Christmas, you can also fill the little pouches with Easter eggs and place them on the Easter table. Easter surprises deserve to be hidden away nicely, too.

I hope you have lots of fun with this project—Yours, Ina

St. Nicholas Boot

A lovely old tradition: St. Nicholas hides candy in a St. Nicholas boot for well-behaved people. It doesn’t have to be those thick leather boots in the hallway. They can also be pretty, colorful, handmade ones that attract admiring glances as decorations.

You can crochet it in traditional Christmas colors or in your granddaughter’s favorite colors just for her. It’s sure to be one-of-a-kind and will be happily used again every year.

The pom-poms look like snowballs and are a must:

In the crochet pattern, I explain and demonstrate everything in great detail. Even a beginner can do it. I hope you have lots of fun with this project—Yours, Ina

Snow Crystal

Less colorful, but all the more beautiful and elegant, is this small white stiffened snow crystal. It is quick to crochet and can be used in many ways: as a gift tag, Christmas tree ornament, decoration in a Christmas arrangement, or on a festively set table. You could also give it on its own as a St. Nicholas Day gift. Since it is stiffened, it keeps its beautiful shape even when used for decorating.

It is crocheted with a 2.5 mm crochet hook and "Catania Fine" (yardage 160 meters/50 g). For more information, simply click on the heading.

I wish you lots of joy with this Christmas project - Yours, Ina

PS. You can also simply tie it to the gift bag - that way there are 2 gifts at once :-)

Reindeer usually live in North America or in northern Europe and Asia. But not Raphael the Reindeer.
He prefers to live in a cozy, comfortable home—and not just during the winter and Christmas season.
Using the materials listed, Raphael the Reindeer will be 30 cm tall. Personally, I recommend using cotton yarn for making all of my stuffed animals and dolls.
The pattern includes many step-by-step photos to make the project easier. However, basic knowledge of crocheting (single crochet, increases/decreases, spiral rounds, etc.) is required.
The following materials are needed for this project:
  • 100 g of brown cotton yarn
  • 50 g of red cotton yarn
  • 50 g of white cotton yarn
  • Leftover cotton yarn in light gray, natural, and black
  • a pair of safety eyes, 9 mm, in blue-black
  • stuffing
  • Crochet hook size 3

You can use these pretty bells and bows as both
Christmas tree ornaments and gift tags, decorations for the
Advent wreath, or table decorations.

***************************************************************************************************************

These pretty pendants aren’t only useful during the Christmas season (e.g., as tree ornaments, gift tags, decorations for the Advent wreath, or table decorations), but also throughout the year as little guardian angels, lucky charms, keychains, for the car, etc.

You can also use this Advent calendar as a decoration—the little forest of 24 miniature fir trees looks great even before Advent and after Christmas.

Each of these Advent calendar trees consists of three layers and a container. All parts are crafted separately and then assembled using a thin wire. The little fir trees are made of photo cardstock, are about 8 cm tall, and are easy to make, even for beginners.

This Advent calendar is very easy to make, but like most Advent calendars, it takes a little time—after all, you’ll need to make 24 containers. So it’s best to start crafting right away!

The calendar is made of photo cardstock and consists of simple hexagonal boxes. When finished, it measures approximately 33.5 x 35.5 x 5.5 cm. To ensure everything fits together properly in the end, precision is very important; otherwise, you don’t need any special prior knowledge.
